Big believer in running worm bins. I ordered 3 lbs of worms in May 2010 and have never had to buy anymore worms. Shredded newspaper for bedding and vegetable and fruit scraps for worm food. There's a reason why worm castings are nick named "Black Gold".

You can make a worm bin out of any plastic tote with a lid. Lots of youtube videos on how. After the initial cost of buying worms, you will always have a free source of fertilizer. It's something that will always be free after the one-time purchase of worms for years and years down the road. I'm not saying it should be your only primary fertilizer but that it's continuously renewable to infinity. I've used worm castings with SunGro Metro-Mix 300 a few years back, it's a very similar grow medium like Pro-Mix.

The greatest thing about maintaining worm bins is it's a continuously FREE SOURCE of fertilizer for LIFE.

Jack's Classic peat lite works very well for everyone I know that uses it and is pretty cheap.

Botanicare. Great nutes at a low price. I am into my 4 grow with it and still on the original bottles, granted they are getting low.
