Nutrient Burn? Need Help Dialing In Nutes

A friend of mine who lives in Colorado is using his medical license to grow these plants for his own personal, medical use and I am posting on his behalf. These are a mixture of bag seeds he collected from growing these strains outside that either self-pollinated or got cross-pollinated by some help (hopefully not). I believe the strains were Nirvana Big Bud x WW, Northern Lights, Purple Haze, and Ice. I understand some of these are males so that may have an impact but I don't know.

He is using FFOF soil mixed with about 15% Perlite. Temps are a stable 70-75F, humidity 50-70%, adequate drainage, air circulation, and fresh air coming in from outside, watering when soil is 20% dry until saturation and all that is pretty much dialed in. These are about 5 weeks in, and the lights switched to 12/12 about 5 days ago. He has never flowered indoors so this is all pretty much wingin' it.

He is using General Organics full nutrient line and basing his feeding off of this schedule

http://www.generalhydroponics.com/blog/2009/07/15/the-general-organics-feed-chart/

Hadn't used any nutrients at all up until the night before he switched the lights to 12/12.

He used 1/4th strength of the nutrients recommended for week 5 / early bloom, so he used

2.5mL BioThrive Bloom
1.25mL CaMg+
2.5mL BioRoot
.625mL BioBud
1.25mL BioMarine

per Gallons of water for feeding this first time. I should mention he is using tap water that sits out for AT LEAST 48h before using.

Playing it safe and using 1/4th strength he figured he wouldn't have ANY problems with burns or deficiencies but sure enough.

I should also mention these pictures are about 5 days and one fresh (no nutrient) watering since that first feeding, and the plants haven't shown any other signs or haven't gotten worse at all so I know this isn't really a problem anymore but he would like to know what he did wrong to prevent this when he plans on feeding again (if he should feed at all).

Unfortunately he doesn't have a soil PH test kit to let you guys know what the readings are on the soil and the runoff but its the first thing he is going to buy when he gets some more bankroll.

The plants seem overall healthy, good turgor, no wilting or stress indicators and the roots smell good so no rotting or anything.

Also he fed all the plants the same concentration of nutrients and the spots only appeared on about 4 of the 16 plants but on nearly ALL of the plants the new growth is slightly pale / lighter green than normal.

So yeah there basically is some golden brown spots on a couple of the fan leaves and pale new growth.

The pictures that are bright orange are the pics under the HPS light and the non-orange ones are under normal room lighting.

So what do you guys think? He's thinking about only using the BioThrive bloom and not using any of those other nutrients for next watering but he is fairly inexperienced using nutrients and flowering indoors so any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Let me know if you would like any other information.
