Odor control help

Basement room, 10'x10'x6' 5 plants, 600w light.

My concern is smell leaking up through the floor and smelling up the upstairs.

Was thinking of a diy carbon filter blowing the filtered air into another room in the basement and ona gel.

But even with a filter running would the smell still leak up? Will the Ona gel actually absorb a lot of the odors? I mean could I buy like 10 jars of that stuff and use it alone?

Will also put air fresheners upstairs but we get a lot of company and I really want to stay low key, even though I'm legal.

I actually just found a thread at another site where they are taking 5 gallon buckets with holes drilled all around them and a fan on top pulling air into the bucket filled with ONA. Sounds like it works really good according to all of the people who are using them. Pretty simple to make too.

buying a carbon filter and fan is the most easiest way to stop smells instantly! aslong as you have negative pressure then no smells can leak, just buy one rather than diy it should last you 12 month so thats 1 year with out no smelly worries,

I get what you mean.. That's a good idea :) How many CFM's would I need for a 10x10x6 or doesnt it matter as long as there is negative pressure?

thats a good size room at about 600 cfm so really youd be after a 8" fan and filter but if your only cooling 1 600 light then a 6 inch fan and filter should do, how ever i would go with the 8 incase you want to add to it later. a proper fan and filter is a good investment, ive got the 6" ruck and fresh filter and the only time you can smell the dank is when your in the room with them, even if your standing out side the growroom door theres no smell at all.

Are there any brands that one should not buy? I see some on Ebay that look nice, but they are a lot cheaper than what you'd get at a hydro store..

10x10x6 = 600 CFM. your fan should be big enuff to move 600CFM in ATLEST 5MIN. yeah you want negative pressure. so the air is going to have to exit the room.. "PHRESH" brand is a really good carbon filter IMO.

I would start with a carbon filter but if you want to go with ona i would use the breeze fan for smaller areas and the ona storm for bigger areas. I just use the ona linen gel with the breeze and i just fill dixie cups half full of the gel to place around the house, then if you have guests they think you are on top of your laundry. I found that the ona works alot better with the breeze fan than without. If i just had a carbon fan the smell wouldn't be that bad but it does linger and rise through the whole house so i use ona as well as a carbon filter.
