Ohio is celebrating $11 million on sales the first 5 days of legal sales. That is not a number to flex about considering it was so highly anticipated by the stoners here.
I bet the town in Michigan i went to yesterday sold $11 million just Saturday worth of weed to Ohio residents alone crossing to buy.

Something has to change or it will fail like medical. Michigan did a $3.5 billion industry last year.

This is a clip from a article about the town I go to.

Ohioans make up roughly half of the customers at the Monroe Township stores, according to a Bridge Michigan review of cars in retailers’ parking lots, and make up to 70% of all sales in the township’s retailers, township Supervisor Alan Barron told Bridge

Like I said, that little town did $11 million on sales yesterday or at least this weekend.

Ohio did it in 5 days in 100+ dispensaries with lines out of them each day.

That's a issue.

That's not a flex at all.

Yeah, Ohio always tries to out think everyone else and instead of innovating we end up looking kind of dumb, like with this whole daily unit thing, the tenth or 2.83g. Also the 1oz single purchase limit, which is enough for me, seems low. 20% total taxes, depending on the local tax, won't help what are some pretty atrocious initial prices. Hopefully prices go down and volume goes up, meaning tax revenue exceeds expectations and lawmakers won't want to F things up any further. This is the one time it's nice that the jokers in Columbus are so dysfunctional as a group, because basically all the Republicans wanted to reallocate the tax money and add additional regulations we wouldn't like, but of course they couldn't even agree on how to do any of that so they did nothing, which is business as usual.

Early rec sales have exceeded official expectations despite being miniscule compared to Michigan. People will pay a premium for convenience, so sales will increase for sure, but by how much or how fast is anybody's guess. I saw a comparison to when we legalized sports gambling, and that blows the cannabis market out of the water. The first month of that was something like a BILLION dollars, and over $200 million in tax revenue.

I haven't been to MI in a few months but I can tell you that the dispensaries in Morenci are much like what you've seen in Monroe. It's a small town right on the state line that no one in MI has any reason to visit, so the cars there all have Ohio plates, and the prices there are nothing short of amazing. Ours don't need to be quite that low, since not spending the time driving and money on gas and tolls makes up for some of our high pricing, but I haven't ruled out ever going there again.
