ok.. how does this look for a hydrosystem

it looks nice and all but if you want to do that i would recommend just building it yourself and saving a bit of cash.
if you look at all that there is:
5 gallon bucket - $5-10 at any hardware store
an air pump + air stone - $10 at any aquarium store
a net pot - literally $1-2 you can get that online or at a hydroponics store
hydroton - $5-10 (if your paying anything more your getting ripped off or your buying too much for this set up)
rockwool - $5 you get a lot more than 2 cubes

so that's all $26 - $37 instead of their $50+shipping, it just requires a little more work pulling things together but you could go out and do all this in a day.

I mean no discredit to stealth hydroponics they look like solid and effective systems, but a lot of what they sell can easily be built on a budget and be almost exactly like their kits.

5 gallon bucket . 3.27 at walmart with out a lid.. an extra 1.25 for the lid.. or goto your hydro store and get the lids with the netpots built in.

Thats a sweet deal for someone thats not handy with tools and building one.By the time you go and get all the stuff and put it together and start your clones,it's easyer to buy it all from one place. If it brakes or you have trouble with it working who you going to call.If you are a handy DIY and know what you are doing its easy as pie.The first time growing and growing in the dwc.A store brought one will teach you how the dwc works and so you can build one like it.Peace

I agree with tokecrazy. If you a good DIY and got the tools, and can read and study here on how to do it, you can build one cheaper with a 5 gallon paint bucket. If not, you should order it to learn.

Just some idiot
I second that. DIY is great if you really understand what you are building. I would buy on first and then you can build some.

I got 6 ounces last year and 15 and half ounces this year so far, for my investment. With all the extra bulbs and reflectors and the fan,, I might have $440 in my Sysytem and lights. $440 is not bad for 21 ounces of primo buds!

That's a really good point and generally i completely agree with you but this set up is simple and doesn't really require any tools. plus i think it would a great learning experience for people who aren't especially handy and for those new to hydroponics.

Kant, I meant you would need tools to build it yourself instead of buying it.
Last year, I made a serious in depth study of how to build a Hydroponic System, i wanted a DRIP DWC System. I read and I read and I determined I certainly could build one myself cheaper.
Then I looked for a tool bit for my drill to cut those 3 inch round holes. and I looked for a saw attachment, and I couldn't find one. I culd not find the Grow Cups fill of slits or holes and I would also need the hydroton rocks, and I'd have to study about nutrients, and well.....I got overwhelmed.......

.I know how to change the oil in my car. As a younger man, I did it all the time, but now I pay someone else to do it, just to be sure it is done right and ti is easier. cost me abut $10 more. In building my own system, I decided not to buy te extra tools, and hunt all that I needed, I just bought a kit. I am glad I did.
I 100% agree with your last post, for a lot of us, it is easier to just buy it.

dude are you fuckin serious why not just build that stupid little thing...its not rocket science
Just FYI, while you can build some cheap ass system for around $35-$40 that kinda looks like the one Stealth Hydro is selling, it will not be nearly as well built nor have the same functionality.

Bear in mind that their Bucketeer systems are intended to be modular; i.e. connectable via and external reservoir. So figure that into your design and it is not so easy.

If you want exactly what is pictured, this is what you will need:

Okay, let's start with a black 90mil bucket. Not a paint bucket, but BLACK and 90mil. They cost $6.96 each:

P500: 5 Gallon Black 90mil Pail

Then the vertical style spigot (drain kit); you'd have to get that directly from SH as nobody else makes it.

So, lets analyse:

Bucket: $7
Air Pump: $8
Airstone : $6
airline : $1.50
rubber grommet for airline: 0.50
4.5 liters of hydroton: $10
Bucket Buddy Netpot: $6
Vertical style spigot: $10

= $49 give or take a dollar or two.

That is not even considering your time and gas cost while driving around getting these parts. Or if you would even be able to find all the parts locally, than you'd have to pay shipping anyway.

What about tools... does everyone have the right tools to build a professional looking DWC setup?

Hell, for that, $49.99 doesn't sound like such a rip off to me. Quite frankly, it sounds like a friggen deal! Even if you're into DIY, it's worth buying. Shit, anyone can get lazy every now and then, and really, if I'm not hardly saving anything why even bother wasting my time when I can have it shipped right to me in a matter of days.

They give you step by step instructions, granted they are assembly instructions, but it includes a parts list and they claim ALL PARTS CAN BE FOUND AT A HARDWARE STORE....BONUS!!! Or maybe you're lucky like me and have a Hydro Warehouse supply store ten minutes from you???

One important thing that took some digging however, some of the kits have a 6 port manifold, it flows @ 2gph to the emitters. FIY when purchasing the same item at a local Hydro supply store.

For that little system, I would just buy the built one. Buy the time you drive to all the stores you need to go to, and pay for all that gas at $3 a gallon, and then the time to build it, you about broke even. Now a big unit. I might build.
Myself, Time is very important, not much of it. I bought all the pieces to my 3'X3' flood and drain at the hydro store and put it together in my room I built. I know I could have saved money, but it was all right there in one store. plus the tray and Res are more sturdy.

Yeah, exactly my point. For $50 + S&H you'd be much better off buying the real deal.
