Old strains

Are all the old time strains (Coloumbian Red/Gold, Panama Red, Accapolco Gold, Jamacain Tripping Weed, ect.) gone? Cuz all you see in the seed books is new hybird strains.

For the most part, the old strains are gone ... and so are the really great highs of yester-year. Most of the breeding has been for indoor growing, where plants finish early. Remember the great Mexican Sativas? Sativas CAN be grown indoors, but the flowering times are really long ... like 110 days plus. Some never finish indoors at all. In addition to that, pure Sativas are really hard to control. They want to grow into those 20-foot bushes. So ... by the time you start flowering them at just a few inches, they end up around three to four feet tall and the yield isn't that great. Now, there ARE some nice Sativa/Indica crosses. If you can get ahold of some Super Silver Haze, that's a nice plant. Finishes in 70 days and is entirely managable. Nice high ... but not what you remember. Nothing is.

You know I have searched long and hard for many of the strains mentioned. I have found a hole in the wall web site that sells Panama red seeds. Will I tell the world? Hell no! I'm a bit selfish in that department when it comes to rare strains. But i'll give you a hint, it sounds like seedbay.com! Just type in Panama red. And on another note: I have Colombian Gold, Panama red, Michoacan, and Oaxacan Red mothers I have kept since 1974. So not all is lost for some of us. To bad I don't have males of these (except Coloumbian Gold-- just a few seeds left), because I would move to Canada and sell seed of these rare strains. I have passed on a few clones over the years to friends and they still try hard to keep mothers of these strains (lol). Almost forgot to mention--> Over the years I took all the seed from all my rare stuff (Colombian Gold, Panama red, Michoacan, Oaxacan Red, Acapulco Gold, Thai Stick, Maui, Hawaiin, Maui Wowee, and on and on and on (to many to list) and put them in a plastic container which has been sealed for a very long time. Any way I took some out and placed in wet paper towel to seed, out of 20 seeds 1 poped up, just not sure what kind it is or if it's a male. I'm hoping for female (lol). Here soon I'll start a pic gallery of this plant to show the world! I'll keep trying to seed these seeds in an attempt to get a male and female of one of these rare strains, so wish me the best of luck!

If it wasn't for my wife I would have none of these. She was the one who got me to save my seeds and to keep some mothers around! Vietnamese women are funny in that way! Glad I married her (lol).

My wife is excited about the grow now that the room is built and a few are peaking through soil... isn't so wild about me smoking once we have kids.

Someone around this forum talked me into putting together all my Cannabis recipes into book form. Been working on it. My wife has been bugging me every since she quit smoking cigs and pot to stop smoking, but she's fine with eating it!

Hey Vote have you ever thought of herming a clone or two of the strains you don't have seeds for? I don't know much about genetics but I think you could get a decent batch of seeds from them by herming them and keeping them in a separate grow room to allow them to pollinate. I think you can herm a plant with stress or there are some chemicals out there that are supposed to herm them for you.

As for kids and grows / smoking. My wife is currently trying to get pregnant and she's VERY excited about both the grow room I've been building and having a baby. As far as that goes we're hoping that medicinalization will have occured before the kid is old enough to distinguish anything important. That and the grow is going to be in 'daddies private room' with a keyed lock on the door. I know that won't detur them past age 6 or so, but still that's 6 years and 9 or so months of growing before I have to worry about it.

If medicinalzation occures then I have plans which will make it more than 'ok' that daddy grows.
