On the Real - Need Some Quality Input

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I am currently putting together a book on freedom, the legalization of marijuana, and the legalization of hemp. I have everything completed except the last chapter.

This chapter I wanted to include some input from Dr's, Scientists, ect. to help build credibility. This is when I realized that the credibility is in the studies being done that prove how helpful marijuana and hemp are. In heart, I have decided I want to include some writings from regular every day people instead. I want people that know nothing about marijuana or hemp to see YOUR perspective as a stoner or grower, whether you use it to just relax, feel normal, help a disease, just love the taste, or you acknowledge the fact that money does in fact grow on trees.

Why did you start smoking marijuana?
I've always had a fascination with it even as a young child, I believed that because it was natural and gets you high, that it probably has beneficial properties

How does it help with your health?
Reduces stress, makes life more pleasurable, increases my social life, opens my nose up (when I got a cold), I swear since I started smoking weed I haven't been getting as sick even with sharing pipes/joints.

How has it effected your life?
made me more sociable, gave me a reason to talk to others, my parents constantly tell me bull shit, thats really the only negative. Marijuana also has the benefit of helping latent problems (IE schizophrenia) to surface, making treatment possible.

Why have you continued to smoke marijuana over time?
I believe it improves my over all health, makes me think deeper about things, makes school easier and more interesting. You just can't do it all the time, thats the "secret"

What compels you to put your life on the line (jail time) to grow marijuana?
Saying a plant can't live is stupid. We have a beneficial parasitic activity with it. We grow it in the best conditions we can, zero bugs, zero diseases, no animals, and in return she gives us something great in return at the end of her life.

What drives you to continue smoking marijuana when its illegal?
Cops really don't give a shit here. Unless you're a dick or have a shit load of weed(well not a shitload, over an ounce and they get pissy) on you, they'll confiscate it and tell you to go home.

How do you think legalizing hemp / marijuana would help society?
Legalizing hemp will help a lot, there are many uses for hemp. As for non-hemp strains, it's probably best that it's illegal. Legalization will probably drop prices, creating less revenue than it would if it were illegal. Regardless if it's taxed or not, the country benefits a LOT. You're taking resources, then creating something that you could sell for a lot more than what you put into it. You then spend that money on food, rent etc.

Don't drink either, my medicine kills all effects of alcohol its just a waste of money.

It's stupid to say a plant that can grow literally everywhere with little help doesn't have the right to be alive.

It's still illegal federally. Anywhere in the US a federal agent could arrest you for it. State regulations do nothing when the federal government ignores them.

Just to re-emphasize this, cops don't care and won't fuck with medical grows in legal states. So some cops are gonna call some Feds? Yeah right dude, not for a medical grow in a personal home.

That's not true dude, I've seen plenty of grow ops raided by federal and local government, even in CALI. Right now especially, the dispensaries and anyone associated is getting slammed. You're going to get yourself in trouble with that kind of attitude. Obviously there not going to waste there time on a 2 plant grow op.. but anything over 15-20 plants will put you on the radar. Better to stay hush hush about the location and personnel of personal grow ops until there's no chance of jail time.

Ya sure, thread's wide open just as it always was. Don't fuckin get your panties in a bunch.

1) I have always been fascinated by discretionary intoxicants.
2) I have found it to neither help nor interfere with my health issues so far.
3) No simple answer.
4) I continue to be fascinated with discretionary intoxicants. The safety margin of cannabis is supreme.
5) I am just bad.
6) Legality of the drug doesn't affect the nature of the buzz for me.
7) It would remove a tremendous, imo unnecessary, burden from law enforcement and the incarceration industry.
Also, it would be a step in a valuable moral direction ... acknowledging an adult's right to be other than sober, regardless the drug.

As for why I would like Cannabis to be legalized -
it's summarized in point 7.
I consider the way hemp was demonized and subsequently controlled into unavailability to have been a bad idea pursued by people with an agenda, especially Harry Anslinger. Imo drug policy in this country has much to do with Anslinger and with a paleo-Calvinist mindset of what's right and wrong. By my morals, this "drugs are of the devil" mentality doesn't help, and it hurts significantly. So I applaud any headway we make against this ultimately faith-based opposition to having, using, gaining access to drugs.
At a practical level, billions and billions are spent each year on the War on Drugs. The arrest and imprisonment of put users, sellers, growers constitiutes a major economic issue as well as a moral one. (I don't think the term "political prisoners" would be out of place here ... it's a failure of social justice imo.) Let's spend that money more wisely, like on [favorite cause here].

Would you use hemp oil to fuel your car if it was legal to grow and use in the US? if it was cheaper than gas? yes. more expensive than gas? no.

It's not really about the money man. If it even gets published most of it would go towards the cause and sending books to ignorant politicians.

Why did you start smoking marijuana?
I started smoking when I was fourteen with some friends because I was curious, anti drug programs like dare had painted a horrific picture of the plant but I had friends who tried it loved it and seemed completely fine. I went to the internet for more information and found all kinds of medical studies so I decided I would be fine to try it. Turns out I loved it and had a great time and many more to come.

How does it help with your health?
While it started off recreational I found secondary medical benefits from it, it proved a more effective anti inflammatory than the naprosyn I was taking which relieved my sciatica and muscle spasms plus it was natural so I felt better about it. And when i was younger I suffered from stress induced insomnia with a lot of my family sick and dying, it allowed me to sleep.

How has it effected your life?
It has truly been a double edged sword, I have had so many good times with friends and it has taken me so many places I probably wouldn't go, I made a lot of money off it and have lived more than most people do in a lifetime. It has also been the only source of legal conflict in my life besides the fact I used to sell pot and smoked it I am a completely model citizen, I am currently facing a case that may take me from my family and place me in jail for a year if the judge sees fit, I had to go to boot camp when I was younger and went to juvi as well. All over a peaceful plant.

Why have you continued to smoke marijuana over time?
I have stopped completely when I have had to including the present usually only due to unfortunate legal circumstances but when I am free to I like to smoke. I do it for the recreational aspect and to relax but it also is the best medicine for my conditions, I am currently in pain because I refuse to take the vicadin and naprosyn they prescribe me. But mostly I just like how it feels and the good times it brings, I miss living in boulder where i could wake up in the morning with a coffee and a joint and just sit on my balcony looking out over the plains and take a deep breath.

What compels you to put your life on the line (jail time) to grow marijuana?
You can either live a long life devoid of happiness barely scraping by trying to be content with slaving away like my parents, bitter and tired after years of it. Or do what I did and accept that life has risks and I would rather be truly happy for a time and know what it is like to be truly happen free and doing something I love than to never experience that at all, I have to it's better to have lived and lost than never lived at all.

How do you think legalizing hemp / marijuana would help society?
It would bring in millions of dollars in tax revenue create an entire new industry. However hemp is an amazingly beneficial plant the usefulness of it will create jobs and money but hurt other industries such as cotton and timber. The money saved on law enforcement for pot and tax dollars would be offset by a drop in privately owned prison profits and industries as well as loss of funding in Leo departments and firing of police officers. There are pros and cons but I believe it should be legal because these "necessary evils" never should have been in place to begin with and become comfortable with if we had handled this responsibly from the start.

Would you use hemp oil to fuel your car if it was legal to grow and use in the US?
Of course that would be amazing assuming the refining process is more environmentally friendly and it is hard to imagine it could be worse than oil.

When I lived In a legal enviroment aka Colorado I quit cigerettes after five years of smoking so yes, my rational was they were expensive and not enjoyable like marijuana.

If I can smoke I almost never drink, since I can't smoke now I drink once every couple weeks with friends when we get together for football and darts.

We have proven time and time again prohibition does not work, how many lives and families need to be damaged over a pointless war that will never end before we wake up and even if society cant see the potential of legalization realizes the reason behind decriminalization. You can't call this a war, wars end.
