one ballast/mh/hps question~

Well, I bought a ballast from a guy off craigslist, it was a 1000w ballast and a 1000w hps bulb.. it worked.

well today I went to my local hydroponic store, and bought a 1000w mh bulb.. and I was wondering if this bulb would work with my ballast?

I don't want to risk it and it might blow up in my face or something, so I going to ask here.. tomorrow I'm heading back to the store with my ballast and mh bulb to ask them if it would work.

so my question is, how can you tell if the bulb is compatible with the ballast? I mean there both 1000w, isnt that good enough info for it to work properly?

You need a conversion bulb to use a MH bulb on an HPS ballast unless you have a switchable ballast.

yep yep or some digitals will run both. you need to find and google or post info on what ballast it is.

well I dont think its going to work, but ill go to the store tomorrow to make sure.. thanks.
