One Major Branch Abruptly Dies After Storm WTF?!?!

Man I really don’t understand what happened here. Came back from a weekend away Sunday everything looked fine. Had a pretty significant storm over night and woke up Monday morning to find one of the major collas looking pretty lifeless. The branch seems to be turning brown however there is no sign of damage - It’s not cracked or broken it literally just seems to have died. Meanwhile rest of the plant is completely fine. Have included some pics if anyone has any thoughts? Wondering if I should just be snipping it off... FFS... I don’t think it has anything to do with the bamboo or twine, the bamboo just went down the sides without any sounds of root damage. The twine is just to add some support obviously as they had been fimmed early on and seemed pretty top heavy.

Willing to bet money that branch broke somewhere and its hard to see.

Anyway if you can find the break quick enough you could put it back together.

However it sounds like that time frame might have passed.

If so you will want to cut that one off. Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Yea there’s really no other reasonable explanation for such a sudden change. Thanks for taking a look. Have many more colas but it’s still a sad day :(
I feel that pain. My cat was trying to kill a bug near one of my plants and swiped at it.

Needless to say she broke a branch.

It unfortunately happens
