(One more question for all you experts) CFL versus T5 ? Bloom (red) & Grow(blue)

Ok - I apologize in advance if this makes me look like a boob...but I haven't yet started growing, but for a year Ive been reading as much as I can and watching dvds - all that.

"Back in the Day" we grew weed in a closet with fluorescents...I was a teenager and didn't really try too hard...just went after it.

Now, after wanting to grow "seriously" - indoors - and hydro...I buy all the popular growing dvds and watch them all several times, and now I find this website chock full of good info (so thanks for that - BTW)

So anyway - I learn in the DVDs about Metal Halide (Vegging/Growing) and HPS Lights (for "Flowering) and Florescent lights merely for sprouting / cloning

Now - as I am buying stuff online panning for my Grow Room - I see the LED lights (both blue and red) but also "Blue" and "Red" fluorescents.

And so...I think maybe it would be a good idea to supplement my Metal Halide ("veg room") with "Blue Fluorescents and my HPS Lights ("Bloom room") with Red fluorescents....

So here's my questions I pose to all you Cannabis Wizards...

First - Supplementing MH and HPs with Blue/Red fluorescents as a means to save money but add light that will not be a "hot" - and by "hot I mean actual temperature that I will have to go out of my way to maybe "cool...

Is this a valid idea/approach?

Second - Ive seen on ebay a "Phototron" type box that is hand made. Its about 2ft X 2ft deep and wide, but six foot high.

The guy that builds them uses only Florescent bulbs that are four foot "long, and the bulbs stand vertical...as opposed to hanging a MH/HPS over the plants....these stand alongside them in the corners of the box - essentially surrounding the plants with four foot bulbs.

I asked the guy via email if he recommended or used Blue and Red bulbs....he never answered me - I guess he figured out what I was asking about and decided to stay clear - or ignored my question out of laziness....

What would your thought be about this procedure...and by YOUR I mean you - who is reading this that might have an opinion

Lastly - the actual bulbs Ive seen are pretty cheep. I can buy four bulbs for 20 bucks. Awesome (both blue and red respectively)

However - corresponding "Lamps" for these lights by the same companies or sellers on ebay lets say....are about two hundred bucks..

But Ive seen lamps that are for four foot bulbs selling elsewhere on the web much cheaper....

For example - see this link

http://www.lightingwise.com/item.asp?PID=50&FID=1&level=0

So my question is this - is there a specific type of lamp that goes with (what I have seen described) as these Red and Blue lights used for growing plants as called "T5" lights....

Are these lamps specific to these type of bulbs - or can I simply use any Lamp that is the same "length" as these T5 (whatever that means) Blue and Red bulbs....?

I hope all this makes sense....and thanks if you actually took the time to read all this ....I go type crazy and don't know how else to get my point across....in order to ask my question....

Blah blah blah...love that coffeeeeeeee

For tube bulbs plant/aquarium bulbs are better than any others. They come in many lengths and different fixture types. They're not all compatible/interchangeable.

I'd suggest using opposing spectrums to create a balance.
