one purple - one not. same strain or not?

These were sold as Kaya Gold (75% sativa/25% indica) by a reputable seed bank. The plants looked very different since seedling. I nearly killed off the runt that turned out to have gorgeous, delicious and powerful buds! Purple looks like some kind of deficiency to me, but they both got the identical soil and feeding.

Is there that much of a phenotype difference? Can two plants so different be the same strain?
And a related side question...can you trust even the highly rated seed banks to send what they claim to send?

Kaya gold is a strain that normally grows in rougher climates. I have heard of some strains that grow in colder temps turning purple. Perhaps this one was further from the light? I know that Midnight Kush turns purple in colder temps when grown outdoors. Just a thought.

purple comes out with the phosphorus deficiency as well, not just cold weather. looks like you maybe cut the nutrients a tad early and the natural death cycle started early, thats based on the "fall colors" to white pistil ratio that i see.

Cold temps are one reason for coloring, but that doesn't explain why only one of the two turned. My lights are LED, and they are not a factor. They lived side by side in the same conditions.

When u have seeds of a certain strain it is just that. However their are variations or phenotypes. (Like mom n dad have kids, they look alike but have differences. I.e. gender,looks.) You look like u have a nute lockout on the purple one. Serve just water for the rest time

I did goof up my math for a few weeks, but they both were underfed during that time. And I agree they both look deficient in something, but again, why purple in only one of two supposedly same strain, same dirt, same everything?

I thought of that analogy, but thanks for confirming. Lockout due to?....pH? Phenotype can account for lockout on one plant but not the other? I guess kids can have different nutritional needs too, huh? I gave up adjusting pH during feedings, as it didn't stick, and it didn't seem to matter. If you, Sean Tom, or anyone knows a sure way to adjust pH down in soil, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

So lockout due to too much of a nute or ph. Add lime, wood ash or a specially formulated solution to the water to raise the pH, or add sulfur, phosphoric acid or a pH-lowering solution to lower the pH, epson salt too I believe. If you're adding solid materials to a liquid solution, allow the material to soak in the water for a few hours to allow it to "steep/soak."

maybe not the same strain, any root rot or root aphid issues will also create a deficiency. Also your ph should rise over time. you want lower ph in veg and higher ph in flower, look at aView attachment 3019978 marijuana ph lock out chart.

Phenotype can account for a lot. Especially visually. Ones purple one not. One more trichs. Etc.

Come on people,that is straight up phenotypic variation,not lockout or defficiency.
