I am looking for your opinions on the best lighting options for the 2 different set ups i have planned.

I am planning on 1 mother plant (to take cuttings from) and 2 or 3 plants to harvest. the plan is to use a dresser or wardrobe divided up .

I originally thought of using cfls but after some research i think i will be better off buying some proper lights like LED or T5s or what ever else suggest (i would like to keep my electricity use down to a minimum

I am a newbie at this so any help is most welcome.

I would use Flo's for clones , they do not need more to root ,
Good Led's are expensive , if not in your budget , T5's are a good all round option.

It really depends on the size of your cabinet. Some will work in a very small areas, some won't. Give me an idea of the dimensions of you box and then we can work from there.

Hey your welcome umbre ,
Ppl will argue until they are blue in the face about lighting,
You have to find what works for you , your space and what you want to achieve ,
the truth is they all work , some better than others , and some suit enviroments better than others.

For a closet , t5's and cfl's for clones should not be overlooked.
Good proven led units are available but can empty your wallet on a first run.
Peace Umbre.

the wardrobe i am thinking of is 3ft wide 6ft high and 18 inch deep, I thought about spliting it in half to allow for 2 different areas. so each area would be 3ft x 3ft x 18 inch

With those dimensions I would shy away from trying to do both grows in the 1 cabinet. The 3' in hight, after installation of the lights does not really leave you with much room, especially for the mother which could grow pretty tall, depending on strain. You will have to worry about light leaks, heat, humidity venting both top and bottom and a few other problems. If you could use another tent, say for bloom, you will be much better off. Peace
