Hey Everyone,
first time poster, I have been here and reading lots over the years and I think I am at that dangerous place in my growing career where I have been doing it long enough where I have gained alot of knowledge but not long enough and or not degreed or papered from higher learning in the art of growing. I do alot by what I see and what I gt in return and tweek things here and there and adjust accordingly and a couple times it has bit me in the ass but overall I have gradually improved from crop to crop and now I am trying to nail down the best growing medium out of the bag with little or no work or extras...........I am currently growing with biotanicare moisture mix coco and like the results but friends growing my plants are getting far better results so I would love to have all of your opinions on the best out of the bag medium with little or no extras...... I am growing under 600 watt MH and blooming under 600 watt HPS................

Thanks Fly

I have never done full on coco, but I have tried many soils FF, HF, ProMix and more and I tend to stick with Coco Loco for the past few crops and am very pleased.

Welcome to RIU, and the wonderful world of cultivating the world's most misunderstood and feared medicines!!!

The only 'advice' I can give you or anyone is to read and learn and then apply what you have read and learned to your garden and you cannot fail. Anyways, remember the search tool is your friend...Lots of folks here willing to help a new farmer get up and growing. But at the end of the day your grow will be only as good as the knowledge and work you put into it.

It is always great to ask questions but do not take anyone's advice or opinions and follow blindly. And remember anyone may have a well-known member status…but that means they have posted and responded to many threads and does not always mean well-educated growerz. Do your own research, you will be much happier knowing you have done it for yourself and by yourself. The first buzz you get from your own budz...is by far the BEST high you will ever have!

Do a search using your current question as the keyword(s) and ZOOOM!! Like Wonka's Great Glass Elevator…off you go to tons of threads answering all your questions. Read all the Newbie Central stickies and learn…

Soaking up all that information and sifting through it, is going to take time. You will likely finish your first grow by then. Viola! grow complete and education well under way.

There are as many opinions on medium as there are mediums...a boat load...so, in the end you will have to make your own choice. But, here's my .02...I have always used Fox Farms Happy Frog with 30% perlite added. The soil lasts 2-3 weeks before any additional feeding is required. I have always used the FF nutes as well. However, on my next grow I am wanting to go organic and water only. So I am going to use the Subcool SS recipe. I am looking forward to seeing the comparison.

Depend's on the nutrient's your using.

I think coco 70/30 is the best around for hydro set up's,soil i would go with bio bizz,or even better a soil that you have done your self,That way you know whats in there.I like to use shop bought soils from hydroponic stores may be a bit more cost wise but ,you can be pretty sure there is no pest in it ,Normal shop bought soil is ok from places like the b&q ext but i have found it to be damp in fact most of the time wet through,it has not been broken down right still has lump's of wood in it,

We do soil at work, for out door growing that we make up in cerment mixers with all nutrients in there, the guy we employ to make this up is brilliant at organic growing, but it does get kept out doors and smell's rank it has horse manure in and farm yard shit piss, all the stuff from the chicken pen,but people keep buying it because the plants thrive on it,all our nursery plants are all started in the stuff, and the grafted fruit tree's are all ways sold with a bag,for when they get put in the buyers garden.

canna coco 70/30 hydroponic growing
bio bizz light mix for soil,i say like mix for the same reason has above i like to know whats going in to it

i will switch it up if somebody with more knowledge then myself says I am being a retard and to use something else, 2 friends have already told me to change to promix and my yeild will increase.......

I currently grow in the coco and use Mills and gh nutes and feel for the money I spend I should see alot better yields....

Actually if we refer to the question it's best out the bag....

So if you know where to source some super soil, that's best.

But there's plenty available if not that everyone works with and wins.
