Time for another round, folks! Where are you and what're the plans for your outdoor garden this summer?

I'm in the mid-valley, and my menu so far:
  • Durban Poison (Dutch Passion, F2)
  • Durban Poison x Jorge's Diamonds (F1)
  • Skunk #1 (Sensi)
The 4th plant is undecided. Choices, in order of preference, are:
  • Kilimanjaro (WoS)
  • S. African Kwanzulu (WoS)
  • Pakistani Chitral Kush (Ace)
  • Durban Poison x R2 (F1)
  • R2 (New Brunswick Old School Skunk)
I'm drawn to the 2 sativas at the top of the list but am skeptical that they'll finish before the middle of October. Same with the PCK. Any experiential input appreciated, so vote your recommendation and let us know what you're doing.

Purple Punch (5)
Wedding Cake (2-3)

Inside vegging now, haven't decided if I'll go with my 35 gallon smart parts or go into my raised beds. I have a big covered patio that I can pull the plants under in Sept if we get rain. I like that option.

After getting crushed by the early monsoons last Sept the option of a covered garden is pretty attractive. Been thinking of picking up one of the $150 free standing heavy plastic shelters from Amazon to put over the girls this year.

Just saw the 2020 thread! What’s happening yall, long time no chat! Rockin deps already up here in Portland! Runnin what didn’t finish full term last season, which was pretty much everything. So we’ve got a Howard’s Red (naturefarm), 3 Blue Orca Haze phenos(swami), red eye skunk(also nature farm) and chem D. Also runnin a munson we didn’t get to see finish. All ended up as moms and have been around as clones since July...kinda slowed em down in the winter and revamped em at a buddy’s under some HPS. really excited for the howard’s red...ended up being lime green, dense and super gooey. almost grape medicine kinda smell. the early flower gets you kinda racey paranoid but still good smoke nonetheless. The blue orca hazes were by far the longest flowering, nice smells...some chapstick coming thru one of the phenos and that one was actually a little shorter flowering and big, fat buds. good structure. The munson looked more chemdog with an jnteresting smell...can’t put my finger on it...kinda earthy. One of the red eyes I am super stoked for...very afghani...rubber tires on the smell and tight nugs. None of em finished so this is gonna be awesome. Got the lean to rockin up against the house with the plastic on and may remove it in the warmer months...I’m guessing the longest plants may go until beginning of july but we shall see...Gotta love heaters for these cooler evenings! I’m finding the radiant heaters are the way to go. Got an answer back from a bud who said the morning twilight shouldn’t affect anything so pullin these tarps 12hr prior to sunrise. Rock on!

I'm a bit north of Eugene. This year I have Super Silver Haze, Gold Leaf, Blueberry CBD and Black Afgani Rose germinated. Hoping that it is a better growing year than last. Last year really sucked growing wise not only for the cannabis, but our vineyard took a 50% hit in yield.

I picked up this greenhouse a few years ago at Bimart for around $100. It 6ft wide, 8ft long, and 6 ft tall. It sure did come in handy last year. I stuck my outside plants in it during those monsoons. It also doubles as a shed for storing my gardening supplies.

As for your fourth pick I say go for the South African Kwazulu. I say that because I have a pack of those same seeds and haven't grown any out and would like to see how it does.

Yup, I admired your greenhouse longingly in your photos last Sept. I'll bite eventually.

So here's my finalized 2020 outdoor lineup:

IMG_20200413_134204458.jpg

Skunk #1 Durban Poison
Kilimanjaro Durban Poison x R2

I chose the Kilimanjaro only on the basis of having more seeds of that strain. The descriptions of Kilimanjaro and Kwazulu are very similar, including a 9-10 week flowering time, so I'm hoping for a sativa that'll finish in early Oct. I chose the skunk primarily to obtain pollen, but it *should* do well here.

Have you ever started depping a couple weeks before the natural full term flowering cycle? Was thinking about doing that last year to beat the rains but since I’d never done it my nerves got in the way before I got to it.

Haven't done light dep outdoors, primarily because I'm not set up for it, and I assume it takes significant effort. But you're right, that's the way to get them to finish before the fall rains.

Because I shut the flower tent down during the summer I'm going to go from outside straight to the flower tent if we have another year like last year. I did move my outdoor plants into the greenhouse and eventually to the flower tent but looking back I should have gone straight inside since the heat wasn't a problem any longer. But I'm hoping we don't have a year like last that was brutal for many people with bud rot. And I really want to do a 12/12 from seed SOG grow as soon as the temps drop so I don't really want the flower tent tied up finishing off outdoor plants. Hopefully the stuff I grow this year finishes faster.

I have a cross of White Russian + Ketama flowering right now and it's looking like it's a fast finisher. At least the one I'm growing now. Fortunately I took a bunch of clones. I gave away all but 2 which I'm going to reverse one and pollinate the other for feminized seeds. I won't be growing any of those outside but a few friends will that I have given clones to. I am going to be growing a couple other crosses I made and some Afghani outside. The afghani is supposed to finish mid to late September. We'll see. I have a female of that ready to throw in the flower tent that I took a bunch of clones off of. It's still under 18/6 and shooting so many preflowers it looks like it's starting to flower. So I think it just might finish mid to late September.

I'm being lazy this year and trying mostly autos. Hopefully can stagger two harvests out before the weather gets too bad.
Oh and popping some landrace seeds a buddy gifted me and gonna roll the dice on them!
What landrace are you growing?

Unless you want to pull buds prematurely I think you're better off choosing something faster. You'll likely have to wait until November for those guys.
I've grown a lot of PCK and some finish faster than the others. From my recollection the green pheno finishes faster than the purple. I also prefer the green pheno over the purple myself.

Here's the White Russian + Ketama. I'm naming it White Ketama. It's not looking the prettiest but I didn't plan on letting it get so big and I planted it in a pretty small pot of soil. I think it's in a 3 gallon. I should have put it in coco. I've grown some big plants in small pots but this one got away from me. Overall I like the structure and bud density. I also dusted a couple branches with pollen from a cross of CBD God + Night Nurse. Not that I need anymore crosses but I only grew one of that cross and it turned out male so I couldn't waste the pollen. I also hit a Ketama with that same pollen. Two more crosses to add to my collection.

Time to get the party started. Happy growing to all. :weed:

Was told it's called Chumba. Pics from their prior grow had some nice deep purples indoor.
Still deciding on pot size so it's moveable end of season if needed! Lol
Yeah it probably won't finish outside. Plus it can get quite big. That's a pure African Sativa commonly called Malawi Gold. Some say it's one of the most potent sativa's there is. You're going to have your hands full with it but the end result will be well worth the effort. It could take up to 16 weeks to finish. Supposed to be a big yielder. It's one I want to grow one of these days.

Good luck.

Im hoping to cross with some autos one way or another. Good to know a more common name!! I knew would be a long one so already planning some garage space.

I just got my final 2 plants put in their pots, and set outside yesterday. I'm running 4 strains this year. Chemdawg, Chocolate Hashberry, Cookies and Cream, and another seed from my stash I'm calling Steve.0.

2 of them will be in 10 gallon smart pots, the other 2 are in the ground. Last season was a near complete loss, only had one finish out completely. Hoping for much less rain and a lot more sun this year. Cheers to 2020, and a much needed change of pace with all this bullshit we're dealing with.

Happy gardening all.
