Original OG x PDOGBMG

Screw all that vegging tediousness, let's get to the good stuff....
The strain is Original OG x PDOGBMG.
Original OG is a cutting my buddy picked up off of craigslist down in Colorado Springs about 3 years ago. Is it really the Original OG? Hell if I know but it is a decent cutting. It is obviously a hybrid that is way more sativa than indica. It vegges up really fast like a real F1 and grows in a large candelabra shape with pretty thin leaves. The nugs grow in a stacked conical shape. It smells vaguely lemon/kush and smokes like a pretty typical 50/50 hybrid. The lore is that the original OG Kush is ((Chemdawg D x (Lemon Thai x Pakistani)) and I can see all of these traits in this plant but it is not what people think when they think OG Kush these days. The P1 male is PDOGBMG which is a poly, polyhybrid and this whole project is pretty much just a pollen-chucking experiment. PDOGBMG is technically (PDOG S1 x ((Motarebel BC Mango x BC God Bud) x Lowlyfe Auto Blueberry))). The original PDOG is some stuff out of Mendocino that my friends came up with back in 2005 or so. PDOG stands for "Purple Maui Super Dog" and the cross is (Mendo Purps x (Maui x Dog x Super Silver Haze)). It was super-duper-fire that had a really long lasting hazy high and smelled/tasted like if you made a drink consisting of 4 parts Hawaiian Punch and 1 part concord grape juice. It was the shiznit-o-bam-snip-snap-zapp and the S1 that this strain has in it was a bagseed from a pound that my buddy found. It had the delicious taste and huge structure but couldn't deliver on the potency. I am growing these plants because I have a few hundred seeds of this and you never know what will end up coming out awesome. I popped about 100 of these seeds and just kinda let them do their thing. I neglected some of them and let about the 30 weakest ones die. I topped them all once at an early stage. I am not trying to maximize my yields with a bunch of crazy training or defoliation techniques. I am only trying to grow these plants into the best, most perfect, stress-free nugs. If I do happen to find a plant that is just next-level amazing, I can train it to yield well no matter what the structure is. Due to space restrictions I transplanted the biggest 31 of these into #3 smartpots first and let the other 40 or so veg in 1 gallon plastic pots for an extra two weeks. This is the run of the first batch.
Skip ahead to day 6 of flowering. The plants are all now showing preflowers. I culled the males and ended up with 11 males and 20 females. All these plants are different due to the extreme polyhybridity but they are all very vigorous. I cut a couple clones off the bottoms of all of them.DSCN0866.JPG
The ladies are dressed up with their hair did and they are ready for the show.

I am gonna squeeze all these plants under a 1000w HPS and I will try to take a glamour shot of each one of them every 10 days or so to measure the progress. Feel free to post questions or comments.

Today I cut a couple more lower branches off each of the plants and staked them up with a piece of bamboo to keep them from flopping around. I watered them once a few days ago with Canna BioFlores and a little bit of cal-mag. They are moving along and I did not see any signs of monoeciousness, so that is good. I have also started the second batch of these plants flowering a few days ago and I will post them here after I cull the males.

After 6 days of flowering the second batch is ready to be sexed and cloned. The second batch consisted of 21 females and 14 males for a grand total of 41 females and 25 males which is not a bad ratio at all. All the plants look perfectly healthy and hopefully I will find a nice keeper or two.

Day 44 of flowering. The first batch of plants are looking pretty good. I have been watering them with Canna BioFlores and Age Old Organics Cal-Mag both at a rate of 10ml/gal with a little bit of enzymes as well. The phenotype with the rounder, more indica-style flowers have a smell that ranges from pretty much non-existant to a spicy/skunky mixture. None of these are that appealing to my palate at the present time but they still have a couple weeks left so maybe one or two will come on stronger. The more sativa-looking, foxtail-type phenotypes have a sweeter, more tropical smell that is pretty nice. #7 in particular smells sort of like a pina colada.

A couple staminate clusters started to form on the lower branches of numbers 2, 7 and 8, and number 10 was starting to herm out pretty badly so I cut that one down. This does not really suprise me since the other crosses I have grown with the Original OG have yielded about 10-20% plants with monoecious tendencies.
