Ott lights. Good or bad?

Has anyone used Ott lights? I am currently veggin' with Ott lights which are supposed to be for plants but it seems like my plants are growing slowly. I have (4)-2' lights in my veg. garden and they are set at approx. 1/2"-1" above tops. I called Ott and they said each 2' light produces 1100 lumens. Is this enough or should I go higher?

considering you should have about 55'000-60'000 lumens in a 3'x3' area i doubt it.. you need about 40 of those lights minimum.. much better off with floro lights.. if you would have done some reading you would have probably found that out for yourself, but i know new people here hate to read..

I thought about switching to Metal Halide and using the Ott lights for side lighting. What is the best spectrum for veggin' with MH?

BTW. Ott lights are fluoro lights and are recommended for growing healthy plants. And I have been reading quite a bit, just not so much with lighting. LOL

best light for veg is MH (more blue spectrum) :) best light for flower is HPS (more red spectrum). they are probably good for a smaller/shorter plant.. maybe a house plant too because they dont need near the lighting of a plant producing fruit/flowers :)

Thanks tokinman. That makes sense. I have a 600watt HPS for flowering but had no idea these lights weren't suitable for MJ. What wattage MH do you recommend for a 3'x4' area? 1 or 2?:dunce:NOOB
