I just bought a Meizhi 600! The build quality is 1st class! They draw 270w at the wall! Got it new with free shipping on eBay UK for £106 shipped from germany! In a week or two I'll be buying another to light my 4x4 grow tent! They are a blurple light and everybody on RIU seem to hate them but to be honest if the par numbers are true and the draw at the wall remains constant they should yield enough to pay for themselves within the 1st grow

................ Build quality on those is FAR from "first class". You also need 3-4 of those to even begin to cover a 4x4. Oh, and even the most expensive DIY LED setups pay for themselves many times over the first grow......

There are a couple good out of the box lights available, like the HLG 550 or the Fluence SPYDR X.

I'm not growing for Profit! I grow for my own consumption! 2 Meizhi 600s will light up my 4x4 fine as I only grow 4 plants at a time! The going rate to buy an Oz where I live is £150 - £200! I agree Cree, cobs and quantum boards will yield a lot more but for my needs I'm not willing to spend £300 upwards on a light! I have a 600 hps I'll use in flowering stage if the plant growth is sub par and I require more!
Edit: the quality on the Meizhi lights are on par with the vipaspecta lights! I've not opened the light to check the internals but the external case I'd rather look at the nice blue rather than a length of heat sink boards!

Not saying you're a shill, but just so you know, when someone ends every sentence with an exclamation point, it does look a bit like manufacturer fluff.
And I can't understand how anyone could find a colored enclosure more aesthetically pleasing than the unmitigated sexiness of raw components, but to each their own, I suppose.

I know this is LED section and you asked specifically about LED but if you have a 3x3+ area and arent interested in wiring up a couple cobs, I would take a look at the 315 LEC/CMH.
idk bruh.. My first 2 leds were blurple (1 CLW and 1 HTG i believe) and with the heat they give off and deceiving par #s you would be way better off even going HPS. With 2 "Meizhi 600" you will be pulling just under 600w at the wall and give off enough heat to warm a small apartment in the winter. By comparison if you went with COBs/LEC you could light the same area for 225-300w so you would be using half the electricity and getting way less "popcorn" buds.. now that's what they call "paying for themselves"

You're right. I've got 2 Veros running 80-85 a piece pumping a 40x40.. and 4 crees running 50 a piece handling a 36x30. Electricity is expensive where I'm at so I would run 4-5 veros turned up or 8 crees.. so I supposed I should have said 300-400

Yepp! QB's and Samsung F-series strips both use Samsung LM561c diodes with up to 200lm/w effiency. People get very good results with this tech. I own F-strips currently(1440 diodes, equals 5 QB's) but I plan already on a new one with Samsung LM301b or latest Nichia 757v2(up to 220lm/w, 4000°k/2200°k) because the light gets sold. I'm more a builder than a grower and have very little requirements... my stash-bin is small these days, lol!
Most of the time the new owners are very thankfully and I get my stash for small money and if not I only need one or two plants per anno.
