Outdoor Crop Nah or Yeh

Outdoor Crop.
Well after getting everything set up for my little indoor grow I was looking at seeds at Nirvana and notices seeds for outdoor use. I got excited because there is a forest right next to my house. This forest use to be farm land. I know this because there are still old peices of barbwire fence and cattle bones found in the forest. A creek also runs through the middle of the forest. I am located in Southwest B.C Canada.

I have a few questions.
- Would it be possible to grow here?
- Is Hollands Hope a good seed to grow here?
- Would i Have to add nutrients to the soil after 1 month of growing?
- How can I protect against bugs and animals?

Everyone's imput would be greatly appretiated.

I would never grow outside. as it is my house animals have taken chunks out of my plants before.

Its a pretty secluded forest and i know it like the back of my hand. I grew up playing in it as a kid there is many old trails that I only know of. I have the perfect spot allready picked out.

but my problem is bugz and animals how would i defend againt them

If there's trails i'm sure others know about it too.

bugs - there is probobly some expensive ass spray you can use regularly, for the animals, maybe chicken wire or something. but that will get seen, and if you think your the only one that grew up playing there, you're wrong, most pot gets found. around here where i live espcially, my sisters dumbass friend pulled an immature crop, 20+ plants, plut them in a backback and brought them to me and my brother to make hash, i slapped him, moron.

Outdoors doesn't sound like a good ldea for your situation.

Growing outdoors can be lots of fun and quite bountiful.
In general, it requires more work, especially if something goes wrong…..bugs, hail, shearing winds, critters, mold and powdery mildew….
Some years are easy and some are nerve racking.
I would hate to have to rely upon outdoor buds alone!
In order to provide a better chance to yield a nice amount of great buds, you should consider using multiple plots spread around, the more plants you have the better your odds of enjoying a good harvest. A few small plots are stealthier
I like to put plants in the ground in a few plots, but I also use containers which I hide around my property. These are sort of my “insurance plants”, because I can provide them with shelter from bad storms etc. I can bring them in at night for dark cycle and start flowering early. In my climate bud blight is a threat late in the season; I can control the mold better by putting plants in a de-humidified environment for dark cycle.
Toward the end of the summer I am running around like a twit moving plants around chasing the sun during the day and tucking them in at night.

Try and find areas far away from any trails. Make sure it gets as much DIRECT sunlight as possible, the more the better!
Consider using grow bags or large containers which you could move in an emergency. The trouble with containers if they are far away, deep in woods, is you have to check them more often for watering.
From what I have read, Holland’s Hope should do well in your climate. I think some people like Mikado as an early strain for you area.

search "guerilla farming". people do some pretty clever things. growing in treetops is just one. there are natural urine sprays that will ward off critters. bugs are always an issue, but i got them in my yard so... outdoor plants can yield in the lbs.

I think I am going to chace it.
All of you who said people will find my plants I appreciate the your comments but I am so sure that no one will find my plants because the spot I have choosen is too perfect. There is a flood plain allong the creek that goes through the forest. It basically is a series of small ditch's surrounded by tall grass. There is a Island in the middle off all this but you cannot tell by the look of it.The soil on this island is gold.

I am thinking chicken wire fence will be decent protection from animals. I saw in a diffent thread about someone throwing out the idea of attatching a car battery to there fence. I dont know if this would work of not but if it does i think its a great idea to keep the animals away that and the fact that it on a island does not make it worst

I am thinking of growing 10 seeds in this plot 5 more in another and 5 more in another

As for bugs I think i will use Nature friendly pesticed.

Im gonna chance it plus it will be fun hopfully the weather will be good

get some hair clipping from a loca salon to spread around the area. the scent is a deterrent for animals. i was thinking about buying some lady bugs to unleash in a hidden garden. i wonder if they'd stay. a friend of mine unleashed a swarm of lady bugs to get rid of his spider mites.. he said he couldnt do anything to get rid of them. he's check to see how they were doing and the lady bugs were jus kickinng it hang out with the mites. i did put a couple preying mantis in my plants to find and eat bugs.. but they disappeared. i later found one dried up and dead hugging the top cola (swear to god) if u find any good sources on effective gorilla farming (like animal and bug control) pls post it.

i do not suggest that island it will flood and kill your plant and fishermen look for those islands to fish off off not to mention the roots prolly will rot jsut find a really thick spot that no one would want to go in and clear the middle out and grow

I think that the bulk of you feel that an indoor grow is the best method by which to do your gardening.
I, on the other hand, have grown outdoors all but 3 times in the past many years. I have done so without having it discovered, uprooted, stolen or bothered by animals and insects. Sure a plant here and a plant there has something go awry but overall, I would choose outdoor over indoor any day.

Kaolinite, all you have to do is exercise diligence and common sense to maintain an outdoor grow. I won't lie to you and tell you that it's without challenge, however, the rewards in my opinion far outweigh those of an indoor grow.

Our old local supplier grew 900 lbs outdoor this season....but hes in jail now.


and all that pretty green is just in an evidence locker somewhere in memphis.

so sad. try not to go to crazy with the number of plants you have.

fdd what size pots were you using?

most pots were 16". a few smaller a few bigger. 1/2lb average per pot.
