I have 5 plants that are 40 days old and it will be 6 weeks on Saturday. My question is how will the plants flowering process be triggered if it's already on a 12-12 outdoor light schedule? Will it start flowering as soon as it can?

Here are some pics

Yes it will start as soon as its mature. Look for alternating nodes. It won't be long now.

man you guys in Cali have it good. The fact that you can start a young plant out doors this time of year is cool

Fuck, I've been throwing out plants every week or so for the past couple months...lol...I can't bring myself to cull the plants that I don't have room for in my indoor grow, so I just throw 'em outside! They're all loving life!!
