If it has no moisture, sure it's always gonna be harsh. It probably dried out too much so just re moisturize it for a couple days. I've always used a sprig of parsley because it adds no scent or flavor and holds just enough moisture to get nuggs back good. That and it's always available from our greenhouse. There is a thread on here about people using Lettuce which would do the same thing and odds are he has lettuce in the fridge.
