Over-Dried Bud Question.

One my plants matured faster than the others and had to be pulled and dried first. I stuck it in another room with a humidifier at 50% and waited until the branches snapped (about 8 days), but I think they’re too dry (and crispy) now only sitting at 48% RH in the jars. I have 62% Boveda packs coming, but they’re not here yet due to a snow storm.

I pulled the other plants and outfitted my grow room for drying with the humidifier and it’s at 60% RH in there now.

Is there any downside to me leaving the lids off of the curing jars in there for a few days to possibly rehydrate the buds that got a little too dry?

also is there another method other than the snap method? Seems like that almost let things dry too much.

Grab a few fresh leaves and jar your weed with them
It is your only hope
No burping either

I’m on it. Thank you for the recommendation and for taking the time to respond.

I don’t have many fresh leaves left at this point. This may be a dumb question, but could a piece of lettuce or some other leaf to be a source of moisture?

Don't wait for the stems to snap, that's a bit too long IMO.

Density of the buds plays a huge part in the process too, I've had nugs that take 2 days to dry and some that take up to two weeks. Just remember, you can always dump the buds out of the jar if you jar them up too early. That's the approach I take.

This is your best bet.
There is no saving the product taste but you can get anything in the flower to moisten it back up. A fresh leaf/s is best but you can use a few drops of water or orange rinds, lettuce will work also.

Thank you for the response. I left the tops off of my jars in my grow room at 60% RH for a day and a half and added orange peels. They’re all reading around 55% RH now and holding. Hopefully I didn’t lose too much scent and flavor.

Over drying may have already affected that, but it shouldn't affect your buzz. It should be ready to consume by drying that much. I don't go off of the big stems snapping, because there is a small stem from that to the bud. The moisture travels thru if any.. but after chop.. that connecting piece of branch will dry out, and now the stem is there just to hold them up. After 24hrs in 65F and 64% humidity I check on them, and by then the leaves are dry. I pluck em off. The leaves are dead, and they will begin to give off that hay smell. I believe that smell can be absorbed into the wet buds, so that's the why. After I remove them I let the RH sit at 62% for 3 days. (Now on day 5) Dropping RH to 60%. By then I am already starting to check the smaller nugs under the colas. They are gonna dry 1st. Colas depend on density, but can possibly be dry "enough" by this time as well.

I regulate my air with a Cloudline T4. I use a bowl of water with a wash cloth damp hanging over the edge. I also run a cool mist humidifier outside of the tent near a crack in one of the vents to maintain humidity.
