P.H

I Have always been blessed with good Ph from the city water supply right out of the tap. This is why I was a firm believer that Ph didn't matter.I always had great results and never bothered checking ph so I thought the rest was b.s. people just over complicating shit. Had a small debate with hotrdharley on here and that's when I realized I didn't know what I was blathering about.So.... I reluctantly got a test kit, used straight tap water and checked P.h because now I HAD to know. This is what my water tests at . If this test kit isn't junk, then I guess besides the chloramine the city water is OK? Always learning... IMG_20151106_090002184.jpg

Based on that pic it looks like you somewhere around 7....you should try and be between 5.5 and 6.5. I usually bring it down to 5.5 or so then let it creep its way back to 6.5 in my hydro setups, at which point i will bring it back to right about 5.5 and let it creep back up.

Usually a light yellow color to the water on my kit.

Im not sure in soil though i belive it should be checked before you water your plants and also check the water what runs out...but again im not sure with soil.

You are correct, however my only concern this time was the condition of only the water going in... Base line to start.

You need to check whats going in and coming out to know what to put in....that i do know...ph could raise or drop depnding on the ph of the soil, after time watering with correct ph the soil should balance out and you should be puting in the same as you are getting out.....so if you put in 6 amd get out 7 i would probly switch up and put in 5.5 untill you see your out ph start droping then raise what you put in for next water what it droped by on the current water....so if you put in 5.5 and get 6.8 out i would probly then put in (common sense method here, as i said not a soil perso ) 5.7 the next time untill you see a drop on the output water again and as i said the soil should eventually ballance out to the 6.0 or whatever your target is.

Soil buffers ph. Changing the ph of your water won't change the ph of your soil. Using water way outside of the scale will effect the plant.
I used to chase the ph of my water and had tons of issues. Mine is 7.12 out of the tap and goes straight into the soil.

Yup, as long as the water is right around a 1.5 either way...No problem..
It won't hurt to pH in-going if you like......6.5 -6.7 for soil....But don't need to if your running organic......Synthetic - pH the in-going is a good idea.
