Hey all. I just wanted to share this graph on PAR (photosynthetic active radiation).
What is important to note is how much of the spectrum in HID and CFL lighting does not fall heavily in this range. Refer to the following link: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/72/Par_action_spectrum.gif
For anyone interested in maximizing efficiency, rather than just maximizing lumens per watt, check out the PAR rating of the better LEDs.
Initial cost is more, but savings in electrical costs and cooling (among other things), makes for a good long term investment, particularly for smaller grows.
