Passive Air Intake

So my grow box is going to be using a passive intake but I am in a dusty basement. I have my exhaust fan blowing out the window. Will the dust floor/basement affect the plant negatively and if it does how can I fix this without ducting.

Filter the incoming air,, simple panty hose will work, think cheap, will work, slip it over the inlet pipe

I bought a cut-to-size carbon filter (meant for cooker hoods), this filters particles and also reduces any smells working their way out of the space through the open hole.
