PC grow box advice needed: Cutting and replanting stalks to accommodate space?

So Im planning to grow inside a pc tower around 24" tall. I want to be able to grow a strain that actually produces bud big enough to be worth my time but the problem is they grow too tall for my box. I was wondering if anyone out there knew if (in theory) cutting the stalk down, putting the plant's remaining stalk in root booster solution, and then replanting the now-shorter plant would allow the plant to continue growth and development.

Anybody ever done this or think it could work? If so what would have to be done to ensure it is successful?
