im looking for the perfect auto soil. I used ffof this time, and i hated the results. I have been giving ideas of happy frog, build a soil light, and go to my nursery. Any other ideas? I need something thats not super hot, as well as its good keeping the soil aerated.

Recipe 420 potting soil 75% Recipe 420 py-hor on top of that for the additional 25% of space left.

The hy-por is much lighter soil. Seedling will do well in that and then once it grows through that 25% it will get to the hotter mix below.

Either that or do a solo cup of starter soil and transplant in the dark when ready to 420 potting soil.

my bookon growing autos doesnt mention it by name, but shamlessly advertisis it by the photos of it . its called promix myccorrhizae.
it says that anything thats geared up for growing tomatoes is great for autos. so tomato grow bag soil would work with that logic and tomatoe plant food should you need to feed it. you cant realy go wrong with it

yep, it has all the right stuff in it. i used to use tomatoe grow bags to grow in and tomatoe food to feed them too, worked a treat. theres a lot of mis infamation about the right nutes to use for cannabis growing. but you wont go wrong with a tom grow baf as soil and tom plant food to grow n flower

Soil + coco mix with added perlite and/or hydro corn. Then put slow release nutes in it. Biotabs offers a good easy to use product line, but ofc you could make something your own. The point would be to not let the slow release nutes start to release anything in the soil when you first plant your plant, and perhaps make it lighter on top of the soil than on the bottom(with biotabs it doesent matter). This way you get light nutrient soil in the beginning that continues to release nutrients through the grow cycle and allows you to feed just water, if you dont care to add stuff like kelp with the water, but no NPK nutes required. If you make your own soil and you make it too light, you can top feed more dry nutes or start to add nutes in the water. It might be a good idea to add some PK at some point of the flowering. Biotabs has liquid PK that also has food for microbes, vitamins etc added to it. Naturally you can use any, but if you use biotabs, it goes nicely with the other products.

If you do make your own, you might want to use less nitrogen and focus more on making good soil for flowering with some nitrogen, because autos dont need it as much as photos, as they start to flower so small. Im sure some people have made good auto recipes, but dont just take any recipe made for photos.

Everyone has their own idea when it comes to soil mix. I was the same, a little of this and some of that and wait. Didn't know what luck was until I saw this.
They sell a mix just for auto as well. Just use as directed. Trouble is MI is riddled with Government Restrictions in the work place making it hard for them to get orders filled. Right now it takes almost a month to get it. Worth it even still for the results are great.:-D

I've seen those products but damn they're expensive as hell. They want $23 for a 5 lb bag of worm castings. They say free shipping but they've obviously added that into the price. I'm really fortunate to live a mile away from an organic farm supply where I can get 30 lb bags for about the same price. I'm sure their water only soil mixes are good but you still need to buy soil on top of it.

That's great, nice to know local products are available and I agree shipping is costly. I don't use much because there is only a micro grow here. The one thing you might have missed about organics is the fact you can recycle soil from one grow to the next. I even throw in all the old stem and root along with the ashes and left overs in the ash tray right along with it. Haven't really bought much soil except a cheap bag of organic soil in the garden center. Check this video for a wealth of information.

Actually I've been growing more plants in soil and reusing that soil. Which comes back to having a decent place to get organic amendments so close by. I purchased 40 - 50 lb bags of kelp meal, alfalfa meal, azomite, shelfish meal, guano, and smaller amounts of other amendments. I put my used soil in a wheelbarrow, amend it, moisten it up a little, and rebag it and let it set at least a month before using but it usually sets for a few. Everything I've grown in it does great.

I'm going all natural despite having excellent results with coco and salts. I've really been researching KNF "Korean Natural Farming" and want to transition over to that style of organic growing for everything I grow within a year. I'm making my own IMO "Indigenous Microorganisms" and FPJ "Fermented Plant Juice" to use as fertilizer. I'm composting everything and all that will be incorporated as well. I had one bed in the garden I did all organic and have one of the best crop of peppers I've ever had so organics and natural methods work. I'm done giving the chemical companies my money.

When my bags of amendments run out I won't replace them. A good compost has everything needed to sustain lush healthy plant growth and everything is going back into the soil it came from. I've also noticed the organic bed is teeming with worms while the beds I used the chemical salts don't have nearly as many. I might have some failures along the way but I'm confident that I can become self sustainable without the need for any commercial fertilizer and I'll try and use as few amendments as possible relying mainly on the composted plant matter, EWC I collect myself, FPJ, and IMO to create healthy thriving soil environment. Which reminds me that I need to get started on the worm bin I've been putting of making.
