perfect ear wax using only buds

i am a semi experienced ear wax maker and i am looking for tips from the experts. my process is as follows. first i fill my 8 inch long 1 inch wide steel pipe with quality buds compressing lightly. i place one ordinary coffee filter on one end and secure it with duck tape then i place a cap with a small hole on the other end.i have two identical glass dishes placed inside one another the bottom one contains warm water.they are both placed on an electric skillet set to 100 degrees.i spray two to three cans of butane(you only need one can if using trim) through the pipe into the glass dish that does not have water.i let the liquid butane evaporate once that is done i start to stir and whip it.and i cook it at 100 degrees for about an hour then im done please for all the amateurs I ONLY WANT EXPERT TIPS FROM EXPERIENCED GROWERS OR HASH MAKERS. It sounds like you have the process down. What aspects are you seeking to improve? Are you not satisfied with the product you're getting? What's on your mind dude?

Are you looking for advice on storage, working utensils, etc....? Throw us a bone here guy....I'm trying to help only because I'm very interested and enjoy BHO and have had a few successful runs myself. Problems I ran into were most definitely not having the correct utensils. I've heard some of the BHO gurus are using dental picks and tools as a dabber and dental scrapers to work with it. As far as storage a lot of people seem to like the little artisan glass vials. I'm partial to frozen parchment paper smears as I do a food saver vacuum purge rather than the electric skillet cookoff so that I can freeze it on the parchment paper impurity free and then I can simply break off small chunks of the oil (like glass when frozen) and toss on a bowl or smear on a joint paper. Very messy shit to work with but for the most part, you just need to accessorize with some of the tools of the trade that make it easier than fumbling with a couple razor blades. In other words, a solid workstation with all the tools that make your job easy

I ditto this. Only improvement I can see is investing in a better extraction vessel. Reasearchkitty on this site blows different sized glass extraction tubes like this one:

I would also look into butane quality - it differs greatly by brand, some 7x filtered are not nearly as clean as others 5x.

Holy potatoes batman! Almost forgot about the butane quality. ^^^what he said. 4x filtered minimum 5x filtered suggested. Nothing less or you're smoking chemical remains. They also sell a rig online called a honeybee if I remember right. Do a google search....it's a big rig where you can load up to an ounce if I remember right. It's pretty sweet but it's a chunk of change....just depends how much BHO ya wanna make. I have the turkey baster modified from BBB and it holds about a quarter which sucks b/c you constantly have to repack it. If you're gonna be doing BHO all the time, buy a rig for sure and order your 'tane by the case online.

The stuff in the blue dish was made using Power 7x and I whipped and whipped and whipped and it would just melt back into oil. I finally left alone on a heating pad over night and in the morning it had kind of waxed/crystallized up. The rest of it was made using Vortex 5x (same buds) and it buddered up almost immediately - within 15 minutes of whipping while the pan sat on a heat pad.

Tell me more of this "whipping".....I've never had BHO look like that but I've heard it's referred to as ear wax or budder...? It looks incredibly stable in those little vials as if you could just take a chunk out with ease. I likes my parchment paper ok b/c it's easy to work with after your oil freezes on it but if this "whipping" produces stable chunks like that which appear to be much easier to work with + I can store in those nice little convenient vials then that's the only way I'll do it from now on! Also, how hot does your heating mat get? Just curious on an optimal temperature to work with the oil w/o going too hot.

Most excellent looking BHO there man. Do you guys suggest an electric hotplate over vacuum purging? Is there any more benefit one way or the other? I know at times I lose a bit of my sticky oil to the parchment paper so it seems to me that the electric hot plate is a more pro way to go and on top of that, I don't have 10 pieces of oil laden parchment paper hanging out in my freezer. Please tell me more of this whipping process. I want my next BHO to look just like those vials

Wax and budder are infinitely easier to work with than the oil in its naturally sticky state. I'm not real sure how hot my heating mat gets but most are adjustable - I want to say that my heating pad on high is not as hot as my hot plate on low. The whipping is fairly easy - spray into your pyrex like normal, let the gas vape off, scrape it into a pile and start to play with it. I take a knife blade or paperclip and start to go in circles, lift up and stretch it, move it around some more, stretch it up like taffy, stir it in circles... With the Vortex at ~ the 15 minute mark it just suddenly started to emulsify, go cloudy, and bam two more stirs and it was budder.

Vacuum purge just removes the butane whereas a hotplate will remove the butane but also dehydrate and concentrate the material. You can dry up oil so with enough time on a heat pad you'll lose some yield when it comes to weight but the material will be slightly more concentrated. One of my favorite forms is hard wax. This stuff IMO is the easiest to work with - if it's cool it will crack like glass but with just some hand warmth it becomes extremely malleable. You could easily roll this stuff out into a long line and cut it into a bunch of equal sized dabs or even sculpt a dinosaur out of it -



That stuff seems pretty easy to make - spray in pan and let it dry super super thoroughly (week + or a day or two on a hot pad) and then scrape and press into a ball.

Excellent post gastanker! Next time I fix up some BHO, I'll whip it as you suggested as that looks phenomenal and more importantly, as you said, way easier to work with.

I saw a thread that fdd responded to in regards to BHO making and he did that week long dry off that you mentioned and showed pics of the entire process and it was pretty sweet how much easier a bit of patience made the handling process. The end result was a pyrex dish brimming with dry shards of honey chunk. Can't wait to get a heat mat & start whipping wooohoo

Damn! A lot of whipped bho around here ay? Some of it even looks really under purged. I guess I'm just not a fan of getting earwax and shit all over my fingers. Nobody over here likes making stable oils that retain their flavor and potency better over long periods of time? Please someone inform me as to why that wax is more enjoyable than this?

Easier to work with + same high? That's why I like earwax but to each their own. I'll agree that some of it does "look" under purged but since I didn't make it I can't say for certain but the same appearance can obviously be produced by emulsion (i.e. whipping).

I think we all want a stable oil as you suggest so please do share your technique as we would all like better oil that is easier to work with

I just want to be able to work with it better while retaining it's potency. Appearance is not particularly a concern (i.e. earwax or honey) if the high is all the same, right? So if that earwax is indeed fully purged, how is non whipped honey oil better?
