Periodic 24hr darkness in 12/12?

Hello fellow stoners and stonerettes, heres a question, is it beneficial in anyway to set a 24 hr dark period for the plants during flowering?
My thought was that maybe this would antagonize the plant to flower at a more hurried pace, I know darkness is good during flowering and the ways of cultivation have been tried and proven, just thinking!

:blsmoke: And yes I am indeed stoned! Yep, definitely stoned.:blsmoke:

I dont think that is a good idea, unless of course the strain you have is/has been bred in the antactica or some place that has 24 hrs total darkness/light. Normally the plant has to adhere to the laws of nature with some light and dark each day. Also one other thing is to be very aware of the 24 hr day, dont try to fool mother nature in your lighting schedule. Keep the total schedule equal to 24 hrs. 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flowering.
I have however heard of some strains you can veg with a 24/0 schedule but i wouldn't risk my grow to that theory. Just stick with what works for sure... 18/6 veg and 12/12 flower. good luck with your plants no matter what you decide to do. keep us posted on your progress.

Peace

Thank you Cidly that was very direct and very helpful. I will keep the grow posted and hopefully get some pics posted today.
One more question--All my plants germinated and sprouted at the same time, have equal amounts of light but some are about 3 inches shorter than the others, why?
They are an Indica dominant strain I know this because the fan leaves are short and fat as hell, other than that they are bagseed from some killer bud.

Was that soil or hydro?
A little of both - soil-less mix (looks like normal dirt) with nutrients being fed to the plant every third day.

Anyways, I only do the 24hour darkness thing when I switch over to flowering. I wouldn't recommend doing it during flowering.

No problem Amigo, I am always glad to help if i can. BUT unfortunately the strains you are growing is beyond me im sad to say. Im not sure why you would get some plants that look different if they are all from the same seed strain. I know someone in here will know the answer for sure. We got some smart peeps in here that know what the F&*^ they are talking about.

you can usually get a faster harvest on a 10/14 schedule (keep it constant though, play with it too much and you'll prolly end up with hermies)

you can cut like 2 weeks off of floweirng like that, but you'll be getting less harvest...

It could be a number of things. But plants from the same strain can be different from one another, different phenotypes, that's the theory behind picking a mother plant the one that is the biggest and healthiest...it has good genes. I don't know much, just what I remember from science classes. I think the less stable a strain is the more you will see this. Like I said I'm no expert...but that would be my thinking.

So what you guys are saying is you do 24 for one day in between the veg and flower stage? Or do you do it for more than one day? I might try that out.

I have been told the most beneficial way is to switch to a 24 - 72 hour dark period before 12/12, I was just thinking maybe a 24 hour period once every week would hurry the flowering stage--I know it may or may not affect yield but I have to move it after this harvest and I need to be done to be able to move them--I got about 5/6 weeks left to flower I already started after only 3 weeks veg in the aerogarden.
