perlite????

well i have a sativa growing its about a month into flowering with what looks like another month to go,i think its root bound atm so i was thinking of upgrading the pot but insted of just using soil how about i just fill the excess pot space with perlite,will it hurt the plant ???

would it be suggested?
it wanted to use something free draining as im using organic potting mix
