i desided to make a glove box out of one of my totes today. i made a plate to plate transfers(1 of both strains), and i inoced 2 rye grain of each also from the dishes(from agar dishes i noced up on 12-7-10). i used very little myc on the rye jars, so it going to take some time to colinize . i also made new lids. these lids have a 3/16 hole driled in the middle, instead of my last lids with 2 nail holes near the edge. the filters are tyvek lab coats, double layers on all jars. jars and razor were pced at 15psi for 90 minutes.

i like the smaller one better myself. aborts OMG they kick ass. and the wet weight on the second pick was over 100 grams. little over a half oz dry if i can remember. i stoped weighing what i grow after the first little casing i made(but still weigh some of the monster mushroom or a good flush). now i just weigh up what i want to eat, so i know about what im in for. i dont get huge flushes(which sucks) but ive only been doing this for a couple months, and my still learning.

Karo and distilled water 4 or 5 ml per 100 ml use a scale, accuracy is a must. 1ml=1g

the creepers looked like it had a haze around it from the contam, so i took a piece of myc from the center to the new plate. then i took my inoc loop and make a taz plate, made 4 swipes on plate.

ok thank you. adding more karo or any kind of syrup per volume would increase the chances of contams right?
No, too much nutrient, for some reason I can't remember right now, retards or discourages mycelium growth. Some peeps say 4% nutrient others say 5%. Karo and water is the simplest lc and works, others are said to work better and probably work faster- light malt extract being one most used. The karo just takes a bit longer. Only need 1cc ms, any more is wasting it.

PC at 15psi for 25 minutes, no more...

Karo LC/ panama clone

The reason that more Karo then the 4 or 5% is not good is if too much nutrient is available, the mycelium becomes lazy and doesn't grow vigorously - not enough and it just won't grow.
