Pesticides that are safe to use in the root zone

I am currently dealing with a root aphid infestation. I am looking for pesticides that will kill the root aphids without negatively affect my plants. I am in a recirculating aeroponic system. I have used Merit 75 and Kontos so far. The RA are still alive, and the Kontos that I used 3 days ago did a number on my plants, although I did add some Dawn dishsoap to the mix in an attempt to make the Kontos bubble up to the top of the net pots, where the RA like to hang out. So it may have been the soap that damaged my girls. Plants that a month ago were in perfect health now have drooping leaves and are showing early stages of root rot.

I have to kill these damn bugs, but Im doing as much damage to the plants as they are in my efforts to eradicate them. I just received some Riptide water based pyrethrin in the mail. Is Riptide safe to use in my rez? Has anyone had any luck with other pesticides when used as a soil/rockwool/hydroton drench? Can I use botanigard WP or PFR 97 in my rez without clogging misters?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Cornell University has a 210 page pdf... "RESOURCE GUIDE FOR ORGANIC INSECT AND DISEASE MANAGEMENT "
Covers just about everything. And look at indicainfo for aphid treatments.
