PH 7.4 OUT OF TAP AND 170 PPM OUT OF TAP

IM GROWING IN A ORGANIC MIX(ROOTS ORGANIC MIX) IS IT NECCESSARY TO ADJUST THE PH TO 6.5 WITH GENERAL HYDROPONICS LIQUID UP & DOWN? OR SHOULD I NOT WORRY ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE LIME IN THE SOIL KEEPS IT BALANCED ? IVE BEEN TOLD THAT PH ADJUSTING IS JUST FOR HYDRO AND COCO AND THAT I SHOULDNT HE USING PH UP AND DOWN GROWING WITH ORGANICS IS THIS TRUE?

do NOT use that crap ....thats not for you. Meters do not work in organics. i wont get into all that but the answer is NO. Take that back to the store. you will not use one drop of up or down.
I can explain why if ya want but its all over here. Yes the lime AND the living soil will hold an change your ph accordingly.

To the PH freaks out there: The soil dont just sit there and stay the same ph because of whatever liquid you put in it. As that soil gets healthier , the bactieras in the pot will change the ph for you to accept what that one plant needs or wants. The lime a lone will keep it in range , then the bacterias an fungus go up an down to accomadate what the plant needs. All these things work together in a very symbolic relationship. Thats why we dont change ph outside. (to a degree)

Well said and thanks for going a little more in depth on this. I remember reading a ton of different inputs on this over the past couple years from various sources on this forum and a lot of the guys I tried to mimic more or less said the same, from what i can remember. I have not ph'd my water once since building my own soil, but to each their own as long as it's working.

To the OP, my water is a higher ph, above 8 (only tested with drops so not too sure on the exact ph other than it's over 8 and I haven't run into any issues as of yet from it. I do recycle my soil, so maybe the high ph water source would have more of a long term effect on a no-till pot though. As long as you know you have a quality soil, more importantly the compost/ewc in said soil, I would guess you'd be alright without the ph up/down. no expert, just sharing my experience with organics.

My plants fed with straight tap water, high ph/chloramines and all that comes with city tap water.

and my garden happens to look exactly the same ....nice and healthy. last i checked the ph coming out of my tap was 8.9.
15 years ago i ran only earth juice liquid nutes. If you go by a meter on those nutes then your fucked. Fully mixed its around ph4 (on a meter) i never once upped the ph ...i just had healthy soil.
Another big mistake with meters and organics is the meter reads metals and salts only. Organic food dont have those things in it so the meter literally cannot test it accurately. Or even close. i had help in teaching the world how to make a slurry to get a more accurate test and now 3/4 of the website wont grow without testing all the time. If your in true organics then even a slurry is a waste of time, i just come up with that idea to stop people from testing runoff because thats even more of a waste of time.
