I wanted to go ph up about .5 and I did what the bottle said and it sent me way up past 8.5 so I ph downed it and it seemed not to work so I downed it again it brought it down to like 4 then I upped it again and it went to about 6.5- 6.8 My soil is 7 flat. Will i hurt to put that water on my plants?

What do you mean you "did what the bottle said"? You add ph up or down until your ph meter tells you that it is at the ph you desire.

No NO NO....throw that out...
get some more water...check it and put like a few drops in the water and then check it again...only add up or down...you shouldn't ever need to add both..if you mess up and overdo it just dump a little out and add more fresh water until you get it right.

Like ok...I need 1/8 tsp of PH UP^ to get my water to the right PH...this doesn't change...but you literally add a drop at a time and mix it up and then check it..over and over until it is right...and then you know how much you need...

Just be aware that adding fresh water to alter ph will also affect the ppm, so as said, add a little, if you have to add too much you'll then need to check the strength of the mixx to see if more nutes then need to be added.

If I am using a different stregth of nutes I will check the water again, but once I know how much of everything is needed for whatever I am doing, you don't even have to keep checking it every time you water. I know that the Ph of my water doesn't change, and the nutes I use raise the ph slightly as well...I need to go from 8 to between 6 and 7 because i am in soil, and I just use the color drops thing...it gets me as close to right as soil needs to be...for hydro you need an actual meter to get it perfect...so I consistently need to add that initial drop to any gallon of water I use on the plants...to spray and for watering.

I didn't realize nutes were involved in this?

The nutes I add don't change the PH enough to matter...they are what makes me need an 1/8th of a tsp as opposed to a 1/16th...

galust a fyi when i used organic nutes i never had to ph water except before i added nutes.. now that being said im usuing non organic nutes now and have to ph after u add nutes and adjust ph DAILY now. I was told not to add ph up and ph down in same resivoir because it changes the molicular structure to much. and i have to add 1 ml per gal of ph down for 1 point to 2 points say im at 7.0 and i have 50 gal i first add 50 ml then add 50 ml more till i get to 5.9
