as a begginer im still trying to work out the basics : when you set your ph for your water and have it were you want it and then add your nuttients, then you retest your ph and find that the ph has either gone up or down ....do you reset the ph or leave it alone and if you do re set it ...is it better to take you reading after you add your nut. then adjust

add nutes first than adjust ph.... wait like 15 minuets to make sure you get an accurate reading
thanks for the quick reply ...im mixing now and was at a stand still since i had adjusted it with down and after the nutes it went to far down so im going to use up to get were i want it ....adding up and down like this will that cause problems with the mix

most nutes are acidic wich means it will lower your ph so you add nutes first than ph, you will probably find that a bottle of ph down lasts you 3 times as long as up

adding up and down often in small volume resevoirs will start causing problems if you don't change your res often enough......make sure your changes are on a consistent schedule and you will be fine.

I sometimes check the waters PH before adding nutes only to see what it is, but I dont adjust PH until after I have mixed up my nutes really really well.

I have a smaller system, 2 12 gallon tanks and an 18 gallon. I fill up the bathtub and ph the whole tub...then ad nutes to the tubs as I fill them...ph stays relatively the same.....
