how often should I check the ph level in my bubble system?? and should I be worried about the roots getting light when I lift the lid to check water level ph etc???
thats wrong you should check your ph and ppm everyday in hydroponics as the plants feed and drink the level can jump. You record the daily change and thats what tells you if you should add nutes or back off.The water level shows how much they drink and if the ppm doesnt fall with the the water then they are drinking more then eating so you can cut nutes back some. The ph will raise as the water is drank by the plants and in small setup that can jump from the needed 5.8 to 7 in a day and then your in trouble if its like that for 3 days.Do a check daily and keep a record to know how to care for your plants..Good luck
no if your ph level is going up that shows they are drinking so then you check the ppm if its not falling but is rising fast you know you can top off with just water and back the nutes down a little. If the water level falls and the ph stays the same and the ppm is dropping then they are eating and drinking in harmony..If the water level stays the same and the ppm drops you can boost the nutes some as they are hungry.
you also might want to peak at my grow journal - i do a daily record of vital stats - once you get the plants settled in - you'll be surprised how they maintain that 5.8 pH for long periods.
