i read all over the web different opinions about ways to check ph .

everything i read is 50-50 about reading ph run off

what is the best way to check ph .......................... too many different answers .

all the poeple around me told me to ph my water -nutes mix at around 5.8 . thay never told me that it was the roots zone that was important . (LAST 3 RUN AND HAD MANY DEFICIENCY)

not long ago someone told me to go with soil ph range because promix bx -bio sea-worm casting mix was more like soil .so need to go with 6-6.5 ph .(going in)

and recently was reading about ph run off .....................

i went to a new store and the guy that sold me organics nutes told me : dont forget to check your run off .............

so i did . putting water at 7.0 ph in --------- 3-4 ph run off water !??

i was in mid flowering stage when i did the test

i had to put 10-11 ph water to get a 6.0 ph water run off .(did that last 2 watering ans right now i have to water at 7.5 to have a 6.5 run off )

i test my left over promix that is in my storage box for future grow with 7.0 ph water . same result .very low run off water.so it is the media that is too low ???:

so is this an accurate way to check -regulate ph of soil .

do i need to put higher ph solution-mix to get i higher run off water . ( is 6.5 right for run off )

i tried dolomite lime .....................does nothing.

i was curious about that product so i mixed dolimite lime in water that was at 4.0 ph . waited and checked later ...............still 4.0 . maybe i dont undestand something .

can you educate me . i like and want to learn to improve all my growing skills .

my grow shop have sunshine mix 4 in stock .is it worth i try

NEVER check your run-off, that is stupid, it picks up all kinds of stuff and changes as it runs past your soil, it isn't telling you the ph of the soil, which will change as the soil dries. as long as you're going in at the right range, that is all you should concern with, unless you're in hydro.

Testing the run off is a waste of time. Not only is it inaccurate it's not where the roots are growing. Hence pointless.

If you want to know the PH of your soil the only way to do it is by testing the soil. They make soil meters BUT unless you're going to buy a good one don't bother.
Medium and methods depend on PH ranges. Soil should be around 6.5 and hydro around 5.8.

I personally use soilless mix. Since that's PH neutral the soil will be the same PH as the water/nutes I put in it. Now if you over due it and create lock out all bets are off. I've never gone the organic method so I can't comment on it.

Lime needs to be mixed in soil prior to use to have an effect. It also doesn't really move the PH. It's a buffer and really prevents wide fast changes to the PH more than anything else. Now if you want to move the PH of the soil prior to use you'll want to use hardwood ash or hydrated lime. Now they'll move the PH up and you've got to throughly mix it and be careful not to use to much.

I use pro mix HP as well and I add NOTHING but more course perlite. There's also no need to adjust the PH of it either. I've done it before but the PH wasn't the root of the problem.

Since you said your problem showed up mid flower can I ask were you ONLY feeding it with bloom nutes from the start of flower? Because if you did I'd bet your entire problem revolves around the lack of N.

I don't want to get off the subject but every flower base nute I've seen is way way to low on the N. This is why I started screwing around with my soil PH to solve yellowing around week 4. Once I figured out PH wasn't my problem and it was really lack of N. Because to many people preach low N in flower I ignored the obvious and wasted time on PH. Now I don't even add bloom nutes until actual buds begin to show. Then I still don't decrease my grow nutes I just add bloom nutes to get to the higher PPM needed in flower. As time goes on I slowly decrease the grow nutes and add more bloom nutes. You'll have to tinker around but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the real root of your problem.
