My tap water was coming out 7.0 two hours later it's coming out 4.0 is this possible or isit my pen messing up, never seen it come out this low

I kind of doubt it's your water, especially if it's a municipal source. I like the drops personally; I use the gen hydro brand.

If using a cheap PH pen? It should be rinsed in distilled water with a good up and down motion in a cup. Then blown dry before storage. I always keep my pen in a cup of distilled while using and between measurements. A hack is to use baking soda to calibrate or check accuracy. It is 9.0 when dissolved in water. Adjust screw inside pen to correct it for current scale build up or impact.
