.+pics+ Mist cloner project completed, but no roots!

Hey guys. I was pretty proud about 2 weeks ago when I built this misting cloner, found the perfect container thats doesn't leak, mist nozzles spraying the entire underside of the lid, spent the $$ on a good repeat cycle timer etc... Came out great right big smiles lol

10 days ago I took these cutting off my mother, scraped the skin with a razor, dipped in cheap rooting gel, stick em in the cloner.

My timer currently runs 20 seconds on / 3minutes 30 seconds off. 24 hours a day with a 23w cfl about a foot above.

10 days and not a single root is showing, growth tip, nothing. I did swap the water out on day 6 I think, straight tap water from my unfilterred well.

Im going to keep it running for the heck of it, as a few plants have only started to yellow as of yesterday, but i was hoping to have 2 inch roots hanging by now

Cheers for any advice on the next round. Would hate to hang this cloner in the closet to collect dust

Have you considered shutting the timer off and letting it run continuously??? I diy'ed my spray cloning bucket and 10 days is about when I just started getting roots but my cloner runs 24/7...g/l

I let mine run 24/7 till they cut.

also check your temps.

its not uncommon to take more then 10 days. just make sure they stems are puffy.

why did you change the water? try using clear rez.

I don't even use rooting gel anymore, I just cut/strip/trim.

Everything ive read for cloning says to only mist for a few seconds, with upto 5 minutes off time.

Doesnt running the pump non stop really heat up the water? My pumps pretty big id imagine it would.

I changed the water as it seemed recomended after a week, water was still perfect clear and clean, just swapped it for a fresh 2 gallons

I would run it and check your temps; don't have it sitting on carpet or in a place with high ambient temps.

you wanna make sure, the root area is dark, no light leaks.

Mine sometimes takes 2-3 weeks to root out. Depends upon how healthy, green, and vigorous the mother plant was at the time you took cuttings. I set my timer to 1 min on 1 min off but not sure that really makes much difference. Keep swapping out the water every 10 days or so and rinse it out good to keep everything bacteria free.

Well theres a possiblilty. My res is not light proof, the top is black as you can see but the bottom is translucent, a gray shade, kinda like light glasses or what you would call "smoked". It surely is letting light to the water, but with only one cfl above, would it be affecting it?

If this run doesnt take I will likely paint the bottom portion of the res, forgot about that

13 days...

3 have about 3/8" long roots, some have root nubs, some stems look to be going bad, but I guess Ill give it a few more days.

Guess the cloner works, just not as fast as Id like.

After this run Im going to take another round of cuts from mom and use only straight tap water, no dip in the *cheaP* rooting gel.
