Heard a lot of stuff like that and variations of it. They may produce more buds but the total actual mass of bud does not appear to increase - done it a couple of times myself, but the overall result was not a bigger yield than other plants. I tie my girls down to make all branches act like the main cola.

I have hieght issues so I pinch the tops so they stay short. But a couple things happen, some grow two/four main colas and others sprout more branches (popcorn buds). Personnally the later one sucks b/c more small nugs and more leaves. I have exper. with different techs (pinching, tie down, ect.) to overcome the short space

i for one like to experiment sometimes i find something new its like a pay day
and sometimes i have to pay for my errors
but thats lfe thats how we learn some just do what every one say
i listen in a polite manor then do whats best for me
on attitude june promo i asked around when i had an idea to try for two sets of promo seeds even thou site and everyone sle said only one i ordered res priv headband one day and res priv #18 the next and got two full sets of promos

I have not pinched the buds yet so I do not have pictures of that but here is a link to pictures of her and I will keep posting them every Sunday. She is a little over two weeks into blooming.
She has stopped growing (height wise) and is just starting to plump"in up the buds. this would mean that I do not have to worry about her wasting her time on making more branches if I do this right?......

Wife left digi cam out in the rain so no pics but pinching seemed to work about 50% of the time. I dont know if I pinched the ones that didnt come out wrong but the ones that it worked on were noticeably bigger. I still have a week or so left till harvest, I doubt weighing them out will actually tell much since buds are never identical anyways. I am going to try indoor growing this winter and will try pinching few more times and let everyone know if it actually works on a regular basis.
