So I stumbled upon this while researching something else. It sounds like a great idea for me because I move my plants throughout the summer, pinecone would make the pots a little bit lighter. Has anyone done this in there outdoor pots? My only worry would be the cones being to acidic once the roots get down there and less soil volume. I be curious of other growers thoughts on this:blsmoke::peace:

I've done the inch or so of perlite at the bottom before and always seem to have a little bit of green alge at the end of flowering. I didn't really like the looks of that even though my plants all finished great.

Mix the perlite evenly in your pot. I would not use the pine cones in any way, just my opinion. Good luck and blessings

i know you're not adding it for drainage, but the results would be the same, i'd think.
Ok that was a great article, and convincing. So I've decided not to put anything in the bottom for drainage as I have always done in years past. So since I'm planning on transplanting my clones this week. Bottom half of six 5 gallon buckets filled with roots org Greenfield's wi lil extra perlite and top half with ffhf, and I'll run with that this summer outside. Peace all and thanks for all your feedbackbongsmilie

Hey my 2 cents are; try to set it up that you move the plant before watering it, last year I moved my plants indoor at night for security and we had a flood light that was shining on our back yard, so I put them inside the shed at night, but if you water the plants before you move them it adds probably 15-20 lbs to your container, I accidentally let the bucket dry out fully 5 days no water and when I picked it up it was less that 10 lbs with a big plant, don’t do that lol but moving them and then watering will help with weight at least... :/
