Pitcher plants

Recently I've been considering putting pitcher plants in my grow to kind of mitigate whatever gnats and whatnot I get here and there but more importantly to replace having to put up a million sticky cards to monitor pests.

I've heard of many people doing this successfully and I was wondering if anyone has experience or suggestions on specific breeds of pitcher plant or tips to keep them chugging along dissolving my bugs?

Sounds interesting but I don't know if they would be good companion plants with cannabis. I'm interested to see how it turns out if you do it though.

I don't plan on using them in my beds as I don't think they like the same type of mix or as many nutrients in the soil since they eat insects, I would probably have a couple around the edges of the tent and maybe one in between my two beds in their own pots.

I'm currently looking at some nepenthes species and trying to find them near me instead of ordering them and having live plants shipped in the middle of winter. I will definitely give an update if they seem promising when I get them.

About the only environmental condition that they like that cannabis doesn't is they like a 20 or so degree drop in ambient temperature at night. And mines not quite as drastic but it's around 10-15 degrees cooler so it should work.

I think that sounds cool af but they might be more work to take care of then the other plants... if you have the time and the desire though please post a journal!

We have the native Cobra Lily which I guess is a type of pitcher plant here in Oregon but it's rare to find it in the wild. I have come across it in the past on one of my hiking adventures.

Yeah keeping it separate like you plan is the best thing to do. It will probably be much harder to care for than a cannabis plant like @meangreengrowinmachine said.

Now you have me wanting to grow some. I plan on a bunch of hikes this spring and summer so I'll be looking to find some Cobra Lilies in the wild.

There is a meadow full of native Darlingtonia Californica(Cobra lily), and sundews about 15 minutes from me, they're amazing.

They grow in bogs and they like high humidity so keep that in mind.

Yes it's the same plant. There are other pitcher plants that grow in different types of environments as well.
