Whipped BHO
I think most people know I am a huge fan or water hash or Bubble Hash as it's known among growers and smokers. I was always reluctant to smoke anything made using butane and even made a pretty big stick about why people shouldn't use it. As Jeff says in the Big Lebowski " New shit has come to light man!" The BHO I was familiar with wasn't made from purified butane now was it heated or whipped in order to make sure all the butane was evaporated rapidly. The old stuff was hard to work with and messy unlike this form that is called "Budder" or "Wax". If made correctly using the right strain it's very hard to distinguish from Hash critically extracted with CO2 and I suspect that most Wax I see in the clubs is made like this. Before I get started I need to pass on some information I have gathered while researching this article. They now make custom extractors that reclaim the butane gas and are much more friendly to the planet. Pig Farmer has ordered a vacuum purging unit this is an additional step to insure quality. Many veteran BHO makers prefer not to whip this mix believing it breaks down the trichomes and reduces the overall flavor but we tried making it both ways and personally I prefer the Wax over amber oil. I called Steep Hill to see if there testing yet for nitrates or any residuals in BHO wax but at this time they are not. I will p
It goes without saying that if you don't use common since when making BHO and working with liquid butane you can go BOOM! Do Not Release Butane Gas Indoors! All it takes is a static spark or a slip in concentration even outdoors and it can be a very bad day so that's my warning. Humans as a species are not all that bright so this is your heads up!
We discovered during this project that TGA strains produce record amounts of end product in the 25% range for returns. I thought I should let all you extract makers see the numbers. A 2.5 ounce tube of Chemdawg yielded 6 grams, Vortex was 10 grams, Jillybean was 12 Grams and Apollo-13 was a staggering 16 grams from 2.5 ounces of shake. Pig Farmer was impressed to say the least and couldn't believe the quality and colors we got.
