Plant height? Does it make a difference? sex question.

hypothetical question:
Plant stage: 3 week Veg
Lighting: 2 26 watt CFL
Soil: Generic Menards soil.

Say someone had two bag-seeds growing. As they grow one seems to gain height and width over the other. Does that mean the one plant that is growing faster is a male or female? Say the lighting was two 26 watt CFLs, and watering was mostly equal to date.

It's definitely a male or a female. I have not found a correlation between vigor and sex, unless i'm drunk .

it could be since males tend to grow faster...but it also depends on the strain and how its supposed to grow.
some plants are tall and skinny(sativa) and some are short and fat(indica).
are these hypothetical seeds both the same type of seed?

males have a greater space between nodes and females wit have closer spaces then the males but u really cant tell untill u put them into budding or flowering

When they begin alternating nodes look closely over the plant and you should see pre-flowers, thats the ealiest your going to be able to pretty much tell sex. Dont freak out right away if the first pre-flowers look kind of iffy, sometimes female preflowers will not really form right, confirm the sex by switching to 12/12 before killing any plant.

Hypothetical seed are from the same bag. Now if they are the "same" I wouldn't be able to know. I don't know were i read that if one of the plants grows faster than the other it's a high possibility that one is male. These hypothetical plants are 25 days old, but one is twice the height of the other.

My answer remains the same.

I think under 12" it's kind of hard to tell, but when they are like 24" it becomes easier to tell even if there are no preflowers.

I think the male is taller, less bushy, has greater node spacing, thicker stem, bigger leaves. I think it also grows faster but this may be due to the stretch as males also seem to show sex a week earlier.

Anyhow it's good practice to study them and make guesses and verify.

Invariably, my best looking tallest new plants end up being male. That is my experience. The males seem to be a little ahead of the females. And when you can tell the sex, many times the males are obvious first. That is my somewhat limited experience. I think a good strain that is treated right should be over 60% female. My last batch of WW seeds is just about 66% female. If you consider what is needed in nature, it is in the best interest of survival for there naturally to be more females. One male can pollinate countless females.

Thanks to all that have responded. They are in individual pots, water the same. I guess this will my own little experiment. I wonder if anyone has tested this out?
