plant is looking a little sad

Hello Everyone,
I started a plant around mid-May outdoors in a small pot. The plant has grown very slowly and around mid September it started to sprout some bud. Since it started to get cold I relocated the plant indoors. The plant still seems to be growing but very slowly. I am using a 120 volt gro light along with miracle grow potting soil and miracle grow tomato fertilizer. The leaves are sprouting as single leaves around the bud sites instead of the traditional 5 leaf formation. There is evidence of crystals at all of the bud sites and it smells pretty good but the buds do not look like most of the pics I have seen. I will be sending some follow up pics as soon as I can figure how to send them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can salvage this plant?

when you moved your plant indoors, did you set your light up for flowering......12/12 and that when you have it on dark, that there is no light leaking in on the plants from else where.
If you don't have your lights set for flowering, then I would have it set right away, and see how they like that after a week.

Also lay off the veg. fertilizer and pick up some bloom fert. (5-30-5, example).....

Also, your plants would of been ok outdoors to finish off........I live in Canada and I just cut the last of my girls last week, and they were planted June 1st and they did great.

Nice nomad... I agree... I would also add more light... Add fluorescent lights and keep them less than 1 inch from your foliage... I also suspect that your current light is borderline USELESS...

Thanks for the tips Nomad and Knowm! This is my first time attempting to grow inside. I am going to change the fertilizer and work on the lighting situation. I have attached some pics so eveyone can get a better idea of my situation. Any other tips please send them my way!

You pictures definitley show a confused plant... This type of single leaf growth is a common symptom of a plant stuck in budding limbo...

The 12 hours of uninterupted darkness are VITAL..

Okay, I added more light along with a timer. the top of the plant still looks pretty good but I have noticed that the plant leaves around the bottom to the middle of the plant along the stem look as if they are drying out. I have checked the soil and it does not appear to be either too wet or too dry. I also have started spraying the leaves with seltzer from a tip I saw in another post. Can this be corrected?

That's easy! Stop spraying with the seltzer.

i use the seltzer too but dont over do it twice a day every two hours is great mine looks fantasmic but spray under the leaves that is where the pores open up,i would also put normal cfl lights hanging from wherever beside the plant about 2 inches away the bottom leaves may be blocked by the canopy

The seltzer idea I had just started today so I do not believe that is what is causing the leaves to dry out. I thought trying this would help the plant with getting CO2. at any rate I am going to keep an eye on it.

ummm... you are spraying your plants every 12 hours??

Hello All,
I thought that it would be a great time to give all of you an update on that "sad little plant". First and foremost I have to extend some gratitude to Garden Knowm and SilverNomad. After reading your suggestions and following them that sad little plant is looking very proud these days. After submitting the pics I invested $500 into a light system and I will be trying hydroponic very shortly. In addition to purchasing this equipment I also started using Pro-Bloom fertilizer and as I had stated earlier it made a huge difference. I will be including both the before and after pics for everyone to see very soon.

The first pic was taken on 10/24/2006 which you all can see in the earlier posts, and the other pics were taken today 11/17/2006. This plant has seen all of the problems from light deficencies, spider mites, and a bad light time cycle. Believe it or not this plant was started back in early May and it took this long for it to bud.
