Technically yes any light will work but HID lighting is always the best. But you can use t5 or t8 flourescents if you wanted with decent results. Ore even a bunch or 26w cfls. What's your budget? If you want cheap electricity bill and decent to great results if you kno what your doing I would use a 8 bulb 4 foot t5 frn sun system.

Can I use a regular light bulb for my plant or do I have to have a special light for it?
You cannot grow anything under a regular incandescent bulb.

Don't be a lazy ass. Go read one of the thousands of posts on this site about grow lights.

Incorrect information was given by NW... you asked specifically if a "regular lightbulb" will work, and they said it would. This is factually incorrect. If you're trying to save money, buy as many 23w bulbs as you can, and grab some 'Y' connectors as well if possible. You'll want 6500k bulbs for vegitative state, and 2700w for flowering state.

^^^?? Really? Bet you think your tight. They don't even make Incandesents anymore. And one cfl would keep a plan t alive but no it wouldnt thrive. 26 candle watts is all that is needs to keep a plant from flowerimg and that's all you need to technically keep it alive. Especially in numbers. The cfls and flourescents are today's "regular lightbulb" you dumbass.
So you're saying you thought he was talking about cfl's when he mentioned regular bulbs?

You were talking about incandescent.

I build homes for a living. I assure you that no new home will ever use a incandescent. Your all fools. Besides the one who asked the question. Once again. Cfls, LEDs, and flourescents ARE TODAY'S STANDARD LIGHTS IF YOU LIVE IN THIS SHIT WORLD WE CALL AMERICA.

If your here to talk shit just leave!!! Thanks to the ones that were trying to help me out. I just ask a simple question for a little bit of knowledge and get a bunch of dumbasses!!! Come on Now
You got the answer to your question so why are you complaining? things are still on topic.
A thread doesn't always remain exclusively focused on the OP.

Apart from the insults coming from @NWGrower7, no rules have been broken.
People are completely within their rights to have that kind of discussion in this thread.

Disagreements are fine and they usually generate a good discussion however why verbally abuse somebody while trying to make your point, this does not only defeat the discussion it makes you look like an idiot. Online users as well as "real life" people have feelings so why go out of your way to be a dick. This will not be tolerated any longer and we have been fairly easy on this up until now.

Regular and "today's standard" are two completely different things. I (incorrectly) assumed that most of the people on this forum are over the age of 12, so when "regular lightbulb" is thrown around, it means incandescent. Also, I'm almost positive that the majority of people on this forum are not living in brand new homes and refer to regular as something other than CFL or LED.

Google "regular light bulb" and check for yourself.

I think you are all right. A plant will grow under a 150w incandescent standard light bulb, which you will get still if you ask for them, but like shit. CFL's, LED's,etc. are the new standard lamps as dictated by law. But if I go to a store and ask for a 60w light bulb, 9 out of ten times I will get a standard (oops), I mean an incandescent bulb. The building standard by law now for new homes is LED or CFL, so in a way you are all right. Sort of. Peace
