Plant not growing taller

Hi,

So, my Royal Medic plant isn't growing any taller, it just seems to be getting bushier. I would like some advice if possible.

I am using multi purpose compost with Two of these LED units:

  • Brand: Excelvan
  • model: PG8( II Generation)
  • Type: Plant Grow Light(Red&Blue&White)
  • Input Voltage: AC 85 to 264V, 50Hz
  • Power: 45W
  • Power factor: >90
  • LED Type: 2835 SMD leds
  • Number of LEDs: 225 pcs
  • Color: Red&Blue&White,Full Spectrum.
  • Wavelength: Red: 620 to 625nm, Blue: 465 to 470nm,White:7000-8000K.
  • Red:135 pcs; Blue:60 pcs;White:30 pcs.

I did have nute burn two weeks back and chopped the fan leaves off which were over 50 percent affected.

It sprouted out of the soil on the 18th of December and I put it on 12-12 on the 28th of January (6 weeks veg)

Strain info:
  • THC:10%
  • CBD:High
  • Yield Indoor :425 - 475 gr/m2
  • Yield Outdoor:475 - 525 gr/plant
  • Height Indoor:80 - 120 cm
  • Height Outdoor:120 - 150 cm
  • Flowering time:9 weeks
  • Harvest Month:Early October
  • Genetic Background:Critical x Juanita
  • Type:Sativa 75% Indica 25%
  • Effect:A clean cerebral rush
  • Flavor:Fruity
  • Climate:Cold

Hello again

I've noticed that the leaves at the bottom are now dying off, this would be due to lack of light because the top is so bushy. Would you just leave them on there or prune them off. The plant is also on 12-12 so I don't really want to prune anything at this stage.

If it's in 12/12 already it should start to stretch some soon, you can try raising the light a little for a week or so to try to stretch it a bit, I would suspect it's a short, squat plant to begin with genetically

I will move the lights up tomorrow, thanks for that, hope it will encourage it

What size container is that? The plant is growing over the edges of the container....transplant to a taller container if you want height

"k.i.s.s."

I have had strains that just don't grow much in veg but when you switch them to flower they explode. I think those qualities evolved in a climate where there is little rain until late in the growing season.

Hi,

It's 50cm/20 inch
33 litres/8.718 us liquid gallons

I thought that would have been big enough but it's only growing outwards rather than upwards haha

Cool man, I have only grown Sensi Skunk in the past and she just shot up. Maybe I'm comparing this one to her and not taking strain difference into consideration

It will stretch before flower, it looks good. Root zone temps are important too, root zone needs to be no less than 18C for optimum growth I think. Currently dealing with phosphorus def due to low soil temps so.. Wanted to throw that in there.

Thanks for the info and the document, I will read through it.

Appreciated

I would give the soil just a little bit of dry period in veg anyway, to make sure roots are always breathing and growing instead of getting choked. I would let it dry a little bit and see how it does, underwatering doesn't damage the plant as much as overwatering does so you don't need to be scared of it.

Appreciated, thanks for all of your help

Happy growing and I will see you around, more than likely haha

Should be plenty I use 3 gallon and I'm getting three or four Zips per, sometimes quite a bit more

I had some cheese plants that grew like that, they were no taller than 2 feet when they finished but they were heavy yielders
