feeding it MG before it sprouts is probably the best way to ensure it will never sprout, probably burn it to death
generally, give it a couple of weeks before thinking of feeding, partly depends on your soil
the 1 30w bulb will be good for a week or 2 of growth before your plant starts getting real spindly
you will need more light real quick

start feeding after the first true set of leaves (3-5 fingers), or 2-4 weeks.

yes, that is a good light for now, but as the plant grows you will need more lighting.

you definatly dont want to start feeding it anytime soon.. i would say you probably wont need any type of nutes for at least 2/3 weeks, depending on the soil you have.. and even then you need to start out light and work your way up in strength.. start with a 1/4 strength application and bild from there slowly... more than likely you wont need to go over 1/2 strength...

and as far as the light you have.. the long and short of it is yes you can use it but growth will be very slow.. and unless you keep it right on top of your plant you will see a lot of stretching... my personal recommendation is for you to purchase some more lights...

thanks for the advice.
well with the lights, do i need another 4ft lamp?
what am i looking at into the lights? i dont quite understand why more, and i dont have a very good understanding of what different types of lights do.
what wattage range should i be in for up to 3 plants, the K's and all that stuff

lights are tough - lot of different situations - i'm a cfl grower so long tube fluoro's are a bit out of my 'normal'
but i think you will need at least 4 30w tubes, probably more, depends if you want to grow the plants 'natural' or with some training
training, such as LST or SCROG, can reduce lighting needs by letting you get the bulbs closer to the buds
if you let the plants grow without any training or topping, then you are going to need bulbs that cover the top and the sides - for good results you need a fluoro bulb within an inch or two of the plant buds
your plants will likely explode in height, 4 feet is the likely minimum, but depends a lot on strain

ok well since i have 4 tubes, would it be easier for me to just keep the lights close?
and is that all i gotta do? or is there other things that come with leaving the lights close

fluoros are easy in that they won't burn your plants - pull the fixture right down to the plant
fluoros are bit limited in that they will not give you the densest bud, that is the trade off
however, if you move over to the next step up, High Output fluoro, that is another beast, they can give very good results
with cfl's, the 'rule' is from 50 to 100 watts per square foot - tubes efficiency is similar
so say for a 2 by 4 foot space, we are talking about 400 watts and up

o iight i get it now.
so all i gotta do now is just basiclly go get some tubes that are 50 to 100 and swap them out from the 30watts am i right?

not quite that easy i'm afraid, generally you are suck with that wattage
the fixture has a ballast that is specific for that wattage fluoro
there are higher wattage tubes, but you may have to get different setup
i don't now too much about fluoro tubes that are not the standard ones
i'll just mention the LST and SCROG methods again - these keep that plants smaller in certain respects - and that may let you get by with less wattage
as your wattage goes up, fluoro cost begin to get high - this is why many growers use HPS as the space increases - it's a more economical solution

i wanna use the HPS but i have no clue how to use them. iono how to set them up. iono if itll work in the house.
my setup is in my mini walk in closet. about 4x7-8. one of them long slim ones.
would a hps roll in fine there? and are they plug ins?
im trying to work with some lights that are plug in right to my sockets.
would HPS be an option for me?

HPS is an option - lot of growers have done just that with the closet you are describing
to get an HPS that is a plugin is also possible - sold as fixtures/sets
but they do cost a bit - for the size closet you have - maybe a 400 watt would be good
not to over whelm you but cfl's are another option, maybe better for your case
with cfls you can buy a standard light socket/extension cord for a modest price - various types
you can hang these around the plants - the cost trade off point with cfl's is around 400 watts - that is above 400 watts, HPS really becomes much better
what you have for the moment is fine, probably be good for a week or 2
but maybe read over some of the forums for grow ideas

i'll have to limit myself to cfl's, i think you've tapped me out for tube knowledge
cfl's are Compact Fluorescent Lights - in the US very widely available and of low cost
the most popular wattages for growers are the 26w and 42w - walmart is good source for low cost cfl's
you'll see they come in different 'colors' - rated in kelvin like fluoros
2700k are good for flower, 5500k and up good for vegging
good brands that i have used are Home Depot's in house brand and General Electric
