Plants are Turning Brown, What's the Deal?

Hello everyone,

So I started my plants about 28 days ago and they are looking good with the exception of a few. I have a haze, northern lights, kush, and a blue haze plant growing. About a week ago two of my plants started browning at the leaves and curling up. Not sure what could be happening to them any advice would help. I dont have a lot of equipment to check things like pH & ppm... looking to invest some money in but not sure my green thump is so green anymore. They are currently under a 400w mh and are using dyna grow veg nutes.
I have some pics and appreciate any words of wisdom.

How often do you water? How much. What soil? Lighting cycle? Strain?
Looks like a magnesium deficiency, so add a small amount of epsom salt to your next water mix. Easy on the nutes, as some strains are sensitive.
When using store bought soil, often you have little/no magnesium. I use greensand in the mix I make, and it seems to cover the bases, for me. You can "side dress" with greensand, but epsom salt will be faster. Hope this helps.

True, I went with a cheap soil :/. I will look for some epsom salt and keep you updated.

hey guys i kinda have the same problem,my leaves are turning yellow and are crunchy and now they have a few brown spots,will epsom salt work,i had a forum post for like a week and nobody has exactly told me what is the problem and until this day they are still like this any help anyone

Without pics, I cannot be sure.
If the leaves curl, and discolor, it may be magnesium. Just drying up could be a number of things. Nute burn, or deficiency, watering too much or too little, pH, but my guess would either a nitrogen or potassium deficiency. My white widow is nute sensitive.
Could be no one who has read your request, know what to do, or is apprehensive on giving advice.

hmm well i got alot of people to look at it but they never tell me exactly,ima give u my link,like they just say it will be okay in like 2 days but na they just get worse

Curling down is usually a sign of excessive Nitrogen or phosphorus. Flush em with water. Lighten up on nutes. They don't need as much as most people think they do. Some strains react worse than others.

So I purchased epson salt and watered yesterday and still no luck. the leaves are still dying . Could there be anything else that is turning the leaves brown? I had planned on letting them veg for another week before putting them to flower... but not sure any will survive....

Im looking for some advice please can you or someone help me ??

I have been trying to grow white widow for a few years now just personal smoke. I have always had the same problem with them though which I believe is a ph problem. I just got a few other strains like ak47 g13 and superskunk so I am going to give them a try.
Anyways I can never get my soil ph right. My ww leaves start buring in the 2nd or 3ed week of flowering. starting at the bottom and working there way up. I use Promix bx and LC'S recipie
but the soil ph runoff seems to come out at 5.5-5.75 .... If I water with 7.0 water that is.... So I use 8.0 water to get a 6.0-6.3 ph
What can I do to get the soil ph perfectly balanced ? just add more lime ? Im afraid of using too much, heres my recipie below...
I use a 3 quart sauce pan when mixing and call it one part in the mix below,
6 Parts promix
2 parts worm castings or organic humas
2 parts perlite
1 cup bone meal
1/2 cup blood meal
1/2 cup kelp meal
1/2 cup greensand
1 cup of dolomite lime
Mix it all up and wet it, let it sit for a couple weeks before use and keep it moist, mix up again just before use.

All mixed up this is about 1 cubic foot and I get 2-3 three gallon containers out of it

what can I do to get a 6.5 ph soil so when I water with 6.5 water it stays 6.5 in the soil for the life of the plant??? I can never get this correct.......

I just want a perfectly healthy plant for a change can someone help me with this please ?

^At about week 7, I add more lime to my soil, for that problem. I add 2 tbsp(powdered type) to each gallon of water I pour in, then water heavily, and evenly, so that some of the cloudy water comes out the bottom of the pot. Doesn't hurt the plants, and keeps the PH in-check til they finish(I start 12/12 around week 6), for me. Sometimes I just spribkle a layer of pelletized-lime on top of the soil, before iI water, which also works.


To the OP and the epsom salts... things like that, have a delayed effect. You'll have to wait a few more days, to see if your problem is under control. The damage will get a little worse, before it stabilizes, and stops.

Thanks for the advice guys. The browning stopped, and I started flowering them.
