I just lowered my lights closer to the plants and within an hour and a half I noticed a jurastic change, all 3 of my plants were literally leaning towards the lights....lol.....Is this normal?...Should I raise the lights back up??
they are immediate gratification light seekers.....I tied off my tops this afternoon and within the first hour the tops start turning up to the light again...yes it is normal....they seek the energy the light provides....they cwant to be oriented and close to extracrt as much energy as they can.
I have 3 3-4 gallon pots close to each other in a closet with a bathroom sink style light fixture that is rectangular in shape with 4 bulb sockets and 2 100 watt cfl's and 4 40 watt cfl's in splitters in the 2 middle sockets (100 watts in the end sockets) and I have the fixture lowered pretty close to the pots in the middle. All the plants were leaning towards the middle. How close should I typically have this kinda lighting to the plants? You think they could burn?
if the lights are right above them they wont lean and u can only have them on the side then yes u need to turn them every so often. keep the walking front ward walk on?
I have 9 42W CFLs less than a inch from my plants during intial vege.....but I also had a good fan keeping the air circulating so that the temp there is not a factor...use your hand to measure the temp.....hold it immediately atop the plants between the lights and the plant.....with lights on and fan running....and backup with a temp monitor.
What temp should I try to maintain between the plants and the lights? Btw, I can't find 42 watt cfl's. All I saw was 40, 75, 100, and 150. What kind of cfl's do you have tahoe? Are they day light(blue package.)?
I like to see a mx of like 85F with remaining ambient around 75-80....but thats just me.
Seems to me that you're talking W equivalent.....the ones I got are from Walmart 12$ each. they were the wrong K (temperature) but thats all they had when I started off......worked great actually...I have very favourable early growth.
