Plants per sqf?

Ok, as I plan for my first scrog grow i'm trying to figure out how to maximize my yeilds per space. I have a 2x3x8 room. Thats 6 square feet, now I know most scrog tutorials say 1 plant per square foot, but that seems a little crowded for me? Whats your guys opinion? I will be growing a heavy indica.

ScroG? or SoG? Are you using a screen? If it is a ScroG I think 2 - 3 plants in that area would be $$. If you're doing a SoG, I'd say 12 plants.

Grow Safe!

Screen of green, I've been thinking that 3 sqf/per plant would be decent, but how would I control the screen? I heard with indicas namely WW, for 1 plant I let it fill up to 50% before switching to 12/12.

Great input! This is what makes RIU a stellar community. Keep up the good work. +rep
i know right! like what the hell..6sq ft small, im about to bang out a grow in 1.5 sq ft if even that lol. i said it like a month ago, this community got some not so much helpful people and i shit u not, people even yield lower here then all other forums because of bad info and not so helpful people. im here to help learn and fucking show what i can farm, yea im open to whatever comments but i make sure i never ever talk shit or joke in a bad way about peoples shit. some people got dough for lots of things, some got to use cfls and such with limited funds. some people grow legal in big ass rooms, some do it illegal in a stealthy fashion. need people like u Slump to keep useless people in check. sad because some of these useless people are adults. (shaking my head)

when you scrog a plant, you are intentionally causing it to cover a larger horizontal plane
IMHO 2x2 is a good space for an untrained plant vegged for 3 weeks
i say that to say that my answer would be 1
1 plant - about 4 weeks of healthy veg
with only 1, i'd go for about 2/3 coverage and prolly do 2 screens about 6 or 8 inches apart
if you've got HID lighting, i'd just put 2 side by side and cut the lights at 15 inchesish and bend the top twice
1 time at the switch and 1 time at the second stack
if you don't care about plant count, i'd get the 1/2 gallon grow bags plant 24 seeds
go under 3 or 4 24 watt cfls for about 18 or 20 days, intentionally keeping them dainty
day 18 or 20, switch and crank up your big lights for flower
so either 1, 2, or 24 IMO

nice input brother. a good fact u stated is increasing surface area, or increasing the horizontal plane. it really makes me think, people with 1000w pushing 66w per sq ft 9000 lumens pulling 6+ zips per plant; now are they pulling that kind of number because there plant is covering 2 or 3 sq ft, so what if u down scaled a micro grow as close as u can to a 1000w 4x4 set up but with 1 or 2 plants?!? i think u would be able to pull just as good number with the right set up. i would bang out a 1.5 sq ft grow, have a screen going up the sides of the box as well as thru the middle, cover as much area as possible, then flower. the best ive seen was 3zips dry outta a 11x11 scrog.... with 200w cfl.

Heh, Just got home from a business trip, and yes it may be small but that has nothing to do with experience, I have personally grown 1 plant in that room with a 4 week veg, and yeilded 196 grams dry off a 400w hps and botanicare nutes, and that had nothing fancy done to it in terms of scrogging/lsting. Only thing that was done was topped the growth shoots to be bushy. I've always red about scrogs and I think i'm ready, just looking for that final push to help me achieve my desired amount, I've heard of people pulling 16 oz!! off 1 scrogged plant under a 400w and thought it was unbelievable until he showed pictures.

dude if you want to grow under cfls in fucking igloo cooler be my guess. i don't care what you do but your better off just buying a bag than wasting your time on a micro cab and taking the risk of getting busted for a few grams.its just not really worth it . sorry

it depends on your schedule. i would do one plant and veg/fill screen for a long time. if you are in more of a rush to fill screen, use more plants, but i would do 3 max. i allow 2 sq. ft. for each plant.

cool story bro.

Whats up with all the negativity? I thought we were here to help each other and give input on others grows? Time isn't an issue, I believe the less you rush with your plants the happier they are, in return the happier you were, esp with big payoffs =)

and........ Indicas do not branch as much, and can be somewhat denser under screen.

Hmmm ... pardon me for disagreeing. But in my experience Indica plants are bushier i.e branch(ier) than sativas but shorter.... Can someone else give an opinion???

i think that your both right, and alot of what you do makes of what you get. that can be the meaning of bushier that its branchier, but then a tall lanky sativa can have tall lanky branches
